October 13, 1929 ~ November 6, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Waldemar on Monday, November 6, 2023 at the age of 94 at Grace Hospital, Winnipeg, MB.

Waldemar was predeceased by his wife Yvonne, and his sisters Greta, Alma and Mirze.  He will be lovingly remembered by his children Gary (Sandra), Ken (Dianne), Ron, Jeff (Pat), Karen (Brian) and Donna (Randy); grandchildren Shane, Lauren (Blake), Jennifer (Ben), Kaitlyn, Emily, Dale (Candice), Cori (Stephen), Ron (Janelle), Tim (Kaitlyn), Brett (Elizabeth) and Scott; great grandchildren Caleb, Zara, Lena, Lexie, Harlowe and Oden; and sister Ruth (Creighton).

Wally was born and raised in Seven Sisters Falls.  He met the love of his life, Yvonne, at Kelvin High School and they got married in 1951.  Wally started working for MTS in September of 1948 and retired on May 6, 1988.  In 1979 he went to Saudi Arabia for a year through his work with MTS. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, reading the paper and doing crosswords.  He did a lot of coaching and managing kids’ hockey teams.  Wally enjoyed going to see Bob and Dorothy in Custer, SD and visiting family in B.C.  Wally, being a part of the MTS Engineering Department, was a natural at drawing up plans.  He built their home in Winnipeg, their cottage in Grand Beach and finally their retirement home in Lac du Bonnet.  He would often sit on the deck and just watch boats go by, enjoying the view.  He played and enjoyed baseball and curling after his retirement with the friends he had made in Lac du Bonnet.  Wally led a good life with no regrets.  He was a kind, loving and caring gentle soul.

As per Wallys wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Gary, Ken, Ron, Jeff, Karen and Donna. We’ve been reminiscing, Uncle Wally clapping his hands as he danced, so calm and cool around not only all of you, but all of us. Picking us up at the train station.
Dad(Uncle Ron) now has support up there!

Lots of love your way

Condolence from Marlyn Harding on November 18th, 2023 2:40 pm

To all Wally’s family my sincere condolences.
We had so many wonderful memories with your awesome dad and your mom. Lots of fun on the ball team especially when Wally and Clark shared a tent together. That was a story in itself attending their 50th wedding anniversary You kids did a wonderful job on the dinner .The time the ball team put on a skit with so much fun. It was a shotgun wedding. I am sure a lot of the people wondered what on earth we were up to. It was a hoot! Now Yvonne will be waiting with open arms to greet her dear Wally.
Death leaves a heartache. No one can heal, but love leaves memories no one can steal, and may all your wonderful memories you shared together, somehow sustain you in your time of grief. To live in the hearts of those you leave behind is to never die and the memories of Wally will live on in our hearts forever.RIPDear Wally
Marlyn Harding
