It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Josephine Sobetski, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, at the age of 89, at East Gate Lodge, Beausejour, MB.
She leaves to mourn her daughter Mary Wernicke (Dieter) and son John Sobetski (Barb), grandchildren Sabyna Sawka (Richard), Dieter Wernicke (Tracy), John Sobetski Jr., Brett Sobetski (Rayeann), Jeffrey Sobetski (Lori) and Tammy Ryan (Douglas), great grandchildren Kevin (Meaghan), Nicholas, Jonathan, and Matthew Sawka, Rory Margaret Thompson Sobetski, Jordan and Katlyne Sobetski. She also leaves to mourn her sister Emily Kozera and brother Eddy Kowalik (Arlene) as well as many nieces and nephews.
Josephine was predeceased by her husband John Sobetski, son Donald Sobetski and her sister Annie at the age of 6 weeks old, as well as her parents Mary and Max Kowalik.
Josephine worked at the Beausejour Bakery, Vickie’s Chip Stand and Clara’s Tea Room. She enjoyed many activities that included hunting, blueberry and mushroom picking with Dad, gardening, her flowers, canning and making all kinds of preserves and sewing. People visiting mom never left her house without a cup of coffee or tea and a sandwich.
Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, September 6 at 10:00 a.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue E., Beausejour. Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Sobetski, John Sobetski Jr., Brett Sobetski, Kevin Sawka , Nicholas Sawka, and Jonathan Sawka.
The family would like to thank Dr. Nick Van Rensburg and the staff and volunteers at East Gate Lodge for their kindness and compassion during mom’s stay.
