1951 -2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our father Joe Guiboche, on the morning of October 24, 2022.
Joe was predeceased by his parents Harriette and Roger Guiboche, and brothers Norman, Ernest and Mark Guiboche.
He will be lovingly remembered by his partner Coreen, his daughter Becky (Colin), sons Andrew (Krystin), Jason and Elliott, stepsons Teddy (Carrie) and Lawrence (Wendy). He also leaves behind his brothers Allan, Donald (Darlene), Stephen, David, grandkids Connor, Cheyenne, Dominic, Damien and Edward amongst numerous family and friends.
Joe was born on August 6, 1951 at St. Boniface hospital to Harriette and Roger. He grew up in River Hills and Whitemouth, Manitoba where he started his career with CP Rail. After his retirement in 2006 from CP, Joe of course couldn’t sit still so he had various odd jobs to keep him busy when he wasn’t too busy singing karaoke or bowling. You would most commonly find him at the Selkirk Walmart as an unofficial greeter/security guard.
Anyone who knew Joe knows that he lived for his karaoke and bowling with his 2 youngest kids Becky and Andrew. He often talked about his kids and how proud he was of them on their biggest and smallest accomplishments. Joe took every opportunity to show them off to anyone who would listen and you could always count on Joe to put a smile on anyone’s face.
Cremation has already taken place at Sobering Funeral Chapel in Beausejour, Manitoba, and a celebration of life will be held at a later to be determined date.

Wow hard to believe still my friend, my dad, my best man and my brother in- law. We’ve known eachother for going on 44 years. Had our awesome fun times, and some rough times, but loads of laughter, goofiness, and smiles.
Music, playing your guitar, bowling, crib when I was younger and dice, remembering just a couple of the things that have popped in my head since I had to say “’til we meet again” to you.
You have your golden wings. Fly high with mom, dad, and your brothers, my brother.
Marrying into and you introducing me to your brother Donald Guiboche, was the best thing that could happen, and I will thank you for always.
You will be so missed by us, your godson/nephew Dustin Cody and so many nephews and a couple nieces. Sending heavenly hugz to you. Fly high Joe.

I knew Joe as one of my classmates. We both grew up in Whitemouth and attended Whitemouth School together. He was always very kind to others and followed the footsteps of his parents who were very hard working and kind. I am very sorry to hear of Joe’s passing. He was and always will be a friend of mine. He loved his family and spoke of them often in very glowing terms. He will be missed by all who knew him. May God Bless and Comfort all who knew him. Rest in peace my friend.

So sorry to hear of Joe’’s passing. I read about it a few days ago on Jerry Sinema’s site on Facebook. I lived in Bsjr for a few years and moved away in 2005. Met Joe at bowling there. Driving taxi there I ran into him on several occasions. After many moves and now back in Selkirk and I just saw and spoke to Joe in Walmart probably a few days before he passed. He was always so pleasant. Rip. Taxi Gail

Such a friendly outgoing man. We new each other it seems like our entire lives. Your mom and dad lived in River Hills where we both attended school. Our group built fortes, went biking, etc. made many good memories. We always took the time to catch up when we ran into each other. We were days apart in age, and you always teased how I was older, when you were the older one. Rest in Peace my friend. God be with you.

I said it all a few days ago! Joe was my friend as were his brothers who predeceased him! Our parents were friends before that and my sons Kevin and Brad are friends of Drew and Becky!
Joe hardly ever missed any Karaoke shows I used to host! He loved life and his family! He had my respect for being a man of integrity! The world would be a much better place with a few more Joe Guiboche’s . We will miss you buddy!

Sorry to hear about your passing Joe. Remembering when I started railroading back to the early 80’s working with you on Beausejour Section, with those characters you had there! It was definitely old school! Sometimes, I wondered how we held onto our jobs! Not a dull moment! This in time lead to you playing weekend baseball and flag football with us, you had a good set of wheels, we had our fun! You were one of a kind Joe. Rest In Peace!

One day our railroad motorcar stopped on the Brokenhead River bridge for lunch.
“Hey Martin alphabet!” Teasing is a way of life for Joe.
“Wanna know how my family got it’s name?” Sure Joe. “My ancestor got in a fight with his family and decided to start his own. But he needed a name. He was still angry from the fight and was tossing rocks into the river and when a rock would hit the water, it made a sound. Guiboche! Guiboche! Guiboche!”
If you’ve ever tossed a rock in the water you’ll know what I mean.
“That’s it! I’ll call myself ‘Guiboche’! And that’s how we got our name!”
That’s Joe. The storyteller. And isn’t this all one big story?
Thank you Joe. Peace for your journey!

Wasn’t lucky enough to know Joe for more than a couple years. First talked to him to tell him of the advantages of downloading the McDonalds app.( said he would have to get grand children to help him with that). I can still picture his smile when he told me he was trying on sneakers at Canadian Footwear, and the owner gave him the pair free. Take care Coreen and family. He is missed.

We will miss you Joe. You always were fun to share a few words with. We will miss your smiling face and we always kept a eye out for you, as we enjoyed sharing a coffee at the Chicken House in BJ. We missed that when we moved. Then you moved and we still had the opportunity of running into you and catching up. We will always have kind thoughts of you. Vi & Earl.

I met Joe about a year before COVID started. He formerly introduced himself as he stopped by my till at Walmart. However, I only knew him as Joe and never knew his last name.
He was a regular at Walmart, stopping by to have a McDonald’s coffee and to talk & joke with those he met at Walmart. After meeting Joe, he always made a point of stopping by my till to say hi! I always enjoyed our short chats and I loved joking with him.
I hadn’t seen him since before Christmas of 2022 and was worried that he might have been in hospital again. Then, just today I saw his friend Dennis, who used to be a Greeter at Walmart and he told me that Joe had passed.
I will so miss our chats and the way he liked to joke around. Condolences to his family and many friends. He will be missed.
