August 6, 1966 ~ September 28, 2017
With family by his side, Duane Kabaluk passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at the age of 51 at Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg after a tough battle with leukemia.
Duane is survived by his wife Leah, daughter Sarah (Cassie), son Sean, grandson Lucas, mom (Irene) and dad (Ed), sister Lianne (Bruce), brother JJ (Paula), Uncles Gordon (Pat) and Albert (Erna), nieces, nephews, cousins, mother and father in law, brother and sister in laws and many friends.
Duane started working at Winnipeg Hydro in 1988 at Pointe du Bois and Slave Falls and was looking forward to retiring in January and having more time to spend training his sled dogs and taking his grandson on trips to Disney and Marioland.
Duane lived life to the fullest, he enjoyed taking family trips down south and across Canada with his wife and or children!
When he wasn’t cutting ice on the Winnipeg River, he could be found dog sledding or collecting action figures(dolls). He will be greatly missed by friends and family!!
His Family would like to thank Dr. Paulson and staff at CCMB, D6 and SICU for doing everything possible for Duane.
Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 7 at Notre Dame du Lac Roman Catholic Church, Lac du Bonnet, MB.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Duane’s memory may be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada, 2 Lansing Square, Suite 804, Toronto, ON M2J 4P8

We are very sorry to hear that Duane has passed away. I have many fond memories of Duane while growing up in Lac Du Bonnet. I had a lot of good times at the Kabaluk farm hanging out with JJ and Duane. Our love goes out to the Kabaluk family through this hard time. Once again our condolences.

I am so sad hearing of Duane’s passing. Duane was my hero. I enjoyed working alongside of him in our younger days as well as our many after midnight walks to the town dock and the local park to swing on swings and talk about life. Even though i am not at home anymore i will always treasure the families and friends who i miss and love. My heart goes out to Leah and the Kabaluk families as they mourn the loss of a great person that i called friend. I will miss you always Duane…..

It was clear to see the love that Duane had for Leah, their dogs and their life together…And despite his illness, it was recently fun to see the photos of how he was taking to the role of Grandpa…
His absence will be felt deeply for a long time to come but its obvious that he made your lives richer by being part of them. It’s equally obvious that the Lac du Bonnet community cared deeply for Duane and will miss him greatly…Condolences and hugs to Leah and all of you at this terribly sad time…

When I was in Pointe and Slave Falls as a trainee I remember working with Duane. Nice guy, and secretly I called him muscles cause he was built like a brick house. Sympathies to your family for your tragic loss.

Dear Family, I am so sorry about the passing of your dear loved one. Losing someone close to us can be the most difficult time in our life. The “Hearer of Prayer” knows how much pain this causes us. 2 Corinthians 1:3,4 “Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our trials.”
