January 24, 1940 – August 20, 2022
Bill passed away peacefully with his wife by his side at the age of 82.
Leaving to mourn his passing and celebrate his life, are his wife of 60 years Olga; children Kathy & Danny, Keith & Joanne, Patti & Kelly, Lorne & Wendy; his grandchildren Brett (Christina), Evan (MacKenzie), William (Samantha), Samantha (Jeff), Amanda, Lance, Kurtis (Alyssa), Danielle (Kyle), Mathew and Meagan; his great grandchildren Liam, Lucas, Emily, Ethan, Odin, Adler, Brody, Olivia, Grayson & Freya; his brother Charlie; brother-in-law Eugene (Eleanor) along with his special sisters-in-law Martha & Marlene; nieces, nephews and friends. Bill was predeceased by his parents Clement & Violet, sister Patricia (fondly known as Susie), sister-in-law Donna and nephew Curtis, amongst many other family members and friends who he loved dearly.
Bill’s hard work ethic began as a young boy helping his dad after school. This was the main influence behind his occupation as a talented mason, owning and operating Relf Plastering & Bricklaying for many years. His artistic creations can be seen throughout Beausejour and the surrounding area. His love of nature called upon him to start another business with his lifelong friend and work companion Richard Rogoski, cutting pulp in Bissett for many winters.
Through their love of Square Dancing, dad & mom had the opportunity to travel across Canada with lifelong friends Cas & Marylou Szajewski. They continued their vacations to many destinations around the world. Later in life they enjoyed their winter home in Arizona, hosting many family members and friends, both old and new.
A pillar of the community, Bill never hesitated to offer his helping hand to many organizations and people throughout the years. As an Elder of Grace Lutheran Church, he was an active member in keeping it operating. Early years as President of CPTC, to later years wherever his help was needed. If you couldn’t find Bill behind the plate umping at any ball diamond both local and afar, he was enjoying his time at the family cottage on Lee River.
He was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He loved when his whole family was able to be together and his great grandchildren brought a special smile to his face. Seeing his family continue to grow meant the world to him.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 30th at 10:30 a.m. Sobering Funeral Chapel in Beausejour, luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Brokenhead River Community Foundation.

OLGA AND FAMILY . SO VERY SORRY ABOUT BILL’S PASSING. HIS WORK IS DONE NOW TIME FOR HIM TO REST. OUR CONDOLENCES TO ALL. HEAVEN AS ANOTHER ANGLE .
Beausejour lost a solid gold citizen. First my condolences to the family, we all know our days are numbered but losing a spouse and parent/grand-parent too soon is never easy. Seeing him zip around town with that damn oxygen line made me feel strange, but he never really complained. He went about his daily routine, albeit a step or two slower. The legacy and family he left with our community will live on and continue to make the world a better place, we are lucky to have had him on our “team” whether it was for 82 or 102 years.
Olga and family I am so very sorry for your loss. Bill was a wonderful person who will be missed by many.
Dear Olga & Family,
Our heartfelt condolences on your great loss, not in the least, your soul mate, Olga.
Sending Healing Hugs,
John & Georgina (Schiller) Klassen

This might be a little long. I have know Bill for most of my life. My last meeting with Bill was a few year back at the compost dump. I was dropping off grass. When I hear Bill yell to bring my truck over. He had a full load of brush on a commercial trailer. He says back your truck behind the trailer. I go ok? He raps a chain around the brush and hooks it on to my one month old truck. He says go put on your emergency brake. At this point I start to go into flash backs of when I was a teenager and Bill coached me in minor hockey and when I was hanging out with Keith and Patti. I just knew not to question him. Lol! Well he jumps in his truck and he floors it. Everything came off not a stick was left on the trailer and my truck it didn’t move. Lol! Bill jumps out of his truck thanks me and we had an hour visit catching up how he was doing, what Keith was up to. Growing up in Beausejour in the 70’s if anything was happening or needing to be done I remember Bill being involved. I would consider him one of the fore fathers of our community. Over the years he would call me to open up the office after hours for a truck plates and we would have great visits. As a umpire he was Joanne’s favourite. She would come home telling me story’s of what he was teasing her or the other girls Lol. I think he had a soft spot for the Diehard girls team. Joanne said he stopped in before one of their games a few years back and gave them a bunch of baseballs. He was a good man and will not be forgotten. RIP Bill

I am so very sorry Mrs. Relf and the loss of your husband, Mr. Relf. Wishing you and all of your family the very best at this sad time. My condolences to all.
Our deepest condolences. Loved having Bill as an umpire for many many ball games over the years. Will miss the “neighbour” chats about hunting, fishing and the Bissett area woods we had now and then the past few years in the back yard. Warm wonderful memories. Great guy, even better person. Will be sorrily missed by me and also my parents.
Bill, when I showed up on your doorstep 2 years looking to borrow some scaffolding you were trying to figure out who I was. I started explaining who I was & how I knew your kids. When I heard you had passed I quickly realized how big you were a part of most of my life through your kids, Patti at RBC & Keith at Extreme Performance Exhaust. Every time I walked through my front door or fire up one of our vehicles I will know you were part of that through your kids. Rest easy Bill, so glad to have gotten those last conversations with you.
I am so very sorry for your loss. My deepest sympathy.
Hello folks. I am so sorry I was not there with you all. As a cousin he stood by us all. The Leah, Relf, Toole names have a deep connection that no death can take away.
