1927 ~ 2016

Velma Briese passed away peacefully at East Gate Lodge on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at the age of 88.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 66 years Harry, her children Allan (Carol), Janet (Dave), Tannis (Nelson) and Noreen (Ken), her grandchildren Wendy (Brent), Ryan, Kristy (Patrick), Lacey (Glenn), Brodie, Amanda, Derek (Carissa) and Katelyn, her great grandchildren Brennan, Emma, Jonah, Isaiah and Eva.  She will be remembered also by her siblings Edith and Herman (Rose), sister in-law Hazel and brother in-law Roy (Eleanor) as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family would like to thank all the staff at East Gate Lodge, Rose Unit for their care and compassion.

Flowers are gratefully declined and a donation may be made in Velma’s name to East Gate Lodge, Recreation Dept.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 5 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 403 First St. N., Beausejour with interment to follow in the Beausejour Town Cemetery.

It made me sad to see this obituary— Velma was my second cousin and we spent many happy hours together in the 1940’s (she sure could play that guitar and yodel). Herbie, I am sorry for the loss of your sister and Harry for the loss of your wife. Deepest sympathy to the entire family.

I was sorry to hear that Velma passed away. When I was young and living at my grandfathers farm (Bert Neiser) I remember Velma singing and playing the guitar. She was part of my memories of that time. My sympathy to Harry and family.
