Sherri-Lynn Smyrski

1979 ~ 2020

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved daughter Sherri-lynn Smyrski, who passed away in her home Saturday, December 12 in the morning. She was 41 years old, and she left behind her mother Janice and father David Smyrski, grandparents Dolores and Ewald Knopf, uncle and aunty Ron and Donna Knopf, cousins Travis and wife Brittney Knopf, Jenna and husband Lyle Otto, and many relatives and many, many friends.

Sherri was born and raised in Lac du Bonnet, going to the public schools and graduating 1998. She was a super hard worker, usually maintaining 2-3 jobs at a time. She loved to meet new people, making new friends, keeping old friends and partying hard. She always lit up a room with her bright smile, always making everyone around her feel comfortable and full of laughs. She will be remembered for her zest for life, her favourite verse “Live, Laugh, Love, her frequent use of the f-word and her love for butterflies.

She loved many friends and family, but her children were always her dogs Shilo and Capone, both rescues that she took a lot of pride in. She will also be remembered for her feisty nature, strength and devotion. She confronted many challenges throughout her life and fought hard to overcome these.  We have all been strengthened by her vibrant will and her vast character.

We will be having a gathering of family and friends after the pandemic is over in honor of Sherri. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Winnipeg Humane Society in honour of her will be much appreciated.

My heart goes out to Janice , David and the whole family. Sherri was a big part of my younger years and taught me a great deal about life and true friendship. She was a light to the world and to me when I needed it most. My heart hurts for us all. She was someone I will never forget although we had not caught up in a while. I am grateful for the chance to have called her my friend and will treasure our memories now and forever. May the creator give family and friends the strength to carry on and watch over all now and forever including her beloved pups. Hugs Dillon

My deepest condolences Janice and the entire family. My memories of Sherri are some of the best times if we weren’t cutting back at a social having fun or doing coffee or something interesting life would have been dull. Sherri had went thru a lot with me thru work thru the loss of another dear friend and the loss of my mom she was also part of my first grandchild coming into the world. So many good things with Sherri and Janice. Heaven received an angel she will never be forgotten and will be greatly missed. RIP Sherri my Friend ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Although Sheri and I never spoke often because of distance and job change, we did keep up on social media. When we did speak it was a fun and a cherished moment. I will never forget the mornings at AECL where she always had a smile and a wave. Many hugs to the family which she adored. My heart goes out to you and bid you strength and prayers to deal with this tragic loss. Her memory is not lost.

My deepest condolences to the family thru this difficult time of loss. Sherri will continue on in our hearts and memories made. She was that light up on life when you needed anything and no matter how much time passed by in seeing or talking, running into each other again was like no time had passed before we had the laughing and crying happening. She cared for everyone, always asking me how my parents were and family. Her drive to accomplish things was like no other. She will be missed, although carry on as our angel protecting us. Sending love and prayers for your comfort.
