SHARLEEN JEAN McLEAN
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Sharleen McLean on June 15, 2023, at the Selkirk Hospital. She is the second child of Jim and Hertha McLean. She was born in Dauphin on October 26, 1952.
Sharleen will be lovingly remembered by her sister and lifelong partner, Debbie, brothers Greg (Lydia) and Myles, as well as nephews James (Wendy), Adam, Garett (Johann), Trevor, Michael (Meagan) and niece Megan. Her Great nieces Everleigh, Jemma, Isla, Ava and nephew Rowen were her pride and joy.
She was pre-deceased by her parents Jim and Hertha (Merke) in 1993.
Sharleen had a long and distinguished career as a nurse, beginning as an LPN and then upgrading to an RN. She worked at Norway House, Pinawa and Whitemouth, as well as doing some home care nursing and doing palliative care for people wanting to stay at home.
Unfortunately, she had many health problems and fully retired in 2008 and began her journey with her lawn mower after that. She loved to cut grass. She had many travels over the years, to Hawaii, Australia, the southern states, but she was mostly a homebody, content to be at home with her dogs and cats. She really enjoyed spring when the Canada geese came home and was very happy when some stayed and nested in our creek.
She loved to cook and bake and provided many meals for her family. She was most happy when our kids, nephews & niece & their friends, came over and she could provide snacks and baking for them. More recently she enjoyed making cowboy pancakes with Jemma & Rowen. Family meals and get togethers were always important to her.
In later years she was in Stony Plain, (assisted living), and from there following another illness, she was moved to Betel Home in Gimli until she was transferred to Whitemouth PCH in January, where she really enjoyed reconnecting with former workmates and friends.
We would like to thank special friends Betty, Lois and Lynda and special “seester” Brenda for all the visits and laughter. We would also like to thank our church family and relatives for all their support and prayers over the years. We would like to thank the many nurses and care aids for all the care and compassion they showed towards Sharleen.
In lieu of flowers please feel free to donate to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Box 73, River Hills, R0E 1T0, to a pet rescue or a charity of your choice.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. with viewing one hour prior at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in River Hills, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Pastor Stacy Moroz will officiate. Casual dress please!

Sharleen the story teller, the hugger, the pet lover, the cook, the lawnmower, always with a smile and a laugh. I will miss my visits with Shar and listening to her endless stories, she had such a wonderful memory and could talk for hours (even the year she had no hearing). Shar went through more health scares than most and always came out the other side, until this time.
Debbie, Greg, Miles and all the kids ( as she referred to her nieces and nephews) I know how you loved her and how you will miss her, Sharleen loved you all dearly and now she is with her parents again and free from pain and restrictions in the arms of her saviour.

I am saddened to learn of the passing of Sharleen, a sister, aunt, great aunt, friend and much more. She will be missed deeply by many. My sympathies to her immediate closely knit family. May the family find strength in her smile, her laughter and the fun times and adventures that took place while she was in better health. I have several fond memories from the seventies.

I am saddened to hear of Sharleen’s passing. I have so many wonderful memories of Sharleen when we worked together in Pinawa Hospital..her lovely smile and twinkling eyes. And a true “nurse” always there sharing her obvious caring and love to those she looked after. There were night shifts when she entertained me with her delightful stories and tales of her adventures. She loved life and I’m sorry it was much too short. But knowing Sharleen, she is enjoying the happiness and freedom from pain in God’s care.
My sincere condolences to Debbie, Greg and Myles, she always talked to me with pride and love about each of you and all her family.
