July 4, 1924 ~ February 22, 2023
Ruth Kaatz passed away peacefully with love and family by her side on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at the age of 98 at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, MB.
Ruth will be lovingly remembered by her husband, of 74 years, Gordon; her first born son Rick (Susan); daughters Jan (Bruce) and Debbie and son Ron (Cheryl); grandchildren Taylor, Connor, Jordyn, Makayla, Avery, Selena and Curtis. She is also survived by her sister Dorothy.
Ruth was predeceased by her mother Elsa and sister Leona.
Ruth was born in Winnipeg in 1924. During her early days in Winnipeg she started her profession as a hair dresser and was very active in her church group. Upon marrying Gord, she moved to Beausejour and continued to hair dress. Together Gord and Ruth started their family of four children. One of her biggest joys was family gatherings at home with big meals and lots of laughter and love. Ruth loved her visits with her grandchildren, reading them books, playing cards with them at the cabin, cooking for them and playing the organ for them. She always had time for family and was always there to lend a hand to anyone in need. She was very involved with Zion Lutheran Church in Beausejour. Ruth and Gord travelled extensively, bringing back many memories and plans for their next adventure. She loved to do ceramics, knit, crochet, sew, bake, play the organ as well as gardening, fishing and family bonfires at the cabin.
As per Ruth’s wishes a private family service will be held.
The family would like to thank the staff and doctors at St. Boniface Hospital, as well as the staff at River Ridge I and River Ridge II for their care and compassion given to Ruth.
