Ruth Alice Schultz (nee Schwark)

1929 ~ 2016

Peacefully in her sleep, at her residence at the Whitemouth Personal Care Home, Ruth Schultz passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at the age of 87.

Ruth was predeceased by her husband Otto, parents Marianna and Gustav Schwark, brothers Norman, Leonard, Wilfred and Reinhardt and sister Annie Stengel.

Ruth is survived by siblings Elizabeth Best, Edith Staerk, Emeline Sokola, Lenora Luszeck, Gertrude Hodkinson, Rosaline Best, Augusta Small, Judith Protosavage, Edward Schwark, her children Allan, Ervin (Kathy), Marilyn (Elmer), Randy, Vern, Kenny (Heather), Christel (Rocky), 15 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ruth was born in St. Clements, Manitoba and married Otto in 1954.  They settled in Whitemouth where they farmed and raised their family until their retirement in 1980.

Along with her many years of farming, Ruth could be seen spending countless hours working in her “weed free” garden.  Her harvests led to a bounty of jams, jellies, canned vegetables and pickles. She raised chickens and milked her jersey cows by hand to make cream, butter and cottage cheese. She quilted many unique and beautiful blankets and mended clothes to make them last longer.  Never one to be idle, she loved baking various pies, breads and perogies that she enjoyed serving to family.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at the Whitemouth Personal Care Home for their excellent care.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 28 at 11:00 a.m. at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Whitemouth, Manitoba with Pastor Richard Engel officiating.  Viewing will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, donations in Ruth’s memory may be made to the Whitemouth Personal Care Home c/o Interlake Eastern Regional Health Authority, Box 160, Whitemouth, Manitoba, R0E 2G0 or to a charity of one’s choice.

I was deeply saddened by your loss. Ruth was a really awesome aunt who I really enjoyed talking to very much. She was extremely proud of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren – you all kept her young at heart! She truly was a hard worker and now she’s at rest. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
