It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle Roy J. Nichol, who passed away at the Pinawa Hospital on September 20, 2019. He was 75.
He leaves his wife of 31 years Charlotte, his children: David (Melissa) and their children Kayla and Joel, Blaine, Gordon, Samantha and her children Devon and Selina, and Amber.
He was predeceased by his parents Frieda and Walter, his brothers Richard and Jack, and sister Marie.
He was born in Winnipeg on June 4, 1944 and grew up in Spearhill, MB.
He spent his life working as a jack of all trades, but spent most of his time farming.
He was a councillor for the RM of Whitemouth, and was active in Lions Club. He spent time working as a surveyor, a security guard for SunGro, and even lived in Australia for a year. But his real joy was his family.
Thank you to the doctors and staff at the Pinawa Hospital for the care and compassion shown towards Roy.
As per Roy’s request, cremation has taken place, and no formal service will be held.

Roy always reminded me of my own father… a sort of gentle giant. I always saw his love for his wife and his children through his eyes. I am so sorry for the family’s loss… especially Charlotte and Blaine as I have grown to know and love them both so much. Heaven received yet another angel.

And of course my heart goes out to the rest of the family. He was and is and always will be such a special man.

Roy was definitely a gentle giant. He’ll always be remembered for his cautious approach to spending during his years on the rm council and volunteering with the lions club. For years he was the go to guy when it came to the Whitemouth Water Co-op. Roy always had a minute to say hello and exchange opinions on the topic of the day whenever I ran into him. Even in times of disagreement, Roy always had my respect ……..he earned it. My sincere condolences Charlotte and family. Duncan McDougald

Roy was a very kind man, anytime I seen him and asked him how he was doing and the family was always soft spoken and smiled. He worked hard for his family, and our community. Another star reached the heavens. RIP Roy, your smile will be missed.
