Posted By Sobering Funeral Chapel On May 24, 2018 @ 12:55 pm In Obituaries | 12 Comments

Ronald Reginald Spas passed peacefully at his home May 22, 2018. Born Sept. 30, 1938 in Glacé Bay, Nova Scotia.

Survived by his wife Linda, daughter Karen (Duane), son Dean (Cheryl), his granddaughters Jena, Tessa (Jesse) and Shana (Dallas) and his sister Marion (Kent) and her family.

Ron joined the Canadian Air Force in 1957, he did basic training in Saint Jean, Quebec and trade training in Clinton, Ontario. He served in Downsview, ON – where he met his wife Linda who was also in the forces. They married in 1961 and together they moved to Rivers, MB, Lahr, Germany, Penhold, AB and Beausejour, MB throughout their years of service.

Ron will be lovingly remembered for his sense of humour, hilarious one liners and kind nature, as a family man and a true gentle giant. His love of hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling could only be rivalled by his love for the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays.

Ron retired after 24 years of service and lived happily with his wife Linda in Seven Sisters falls MB, together they owned the Seven Sisters Motel in March, 1979 then Genies Gifts and Novelties in May, 1985, and fully retired in 2003. He enjoyed “Ronnie’s Roadhouse” with classic country music and all his favourite collectibles.

As per Ron’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.

In lieu of flowers please donate to the Heart Stroke Foundation.

Ronnie and I were the best of friends in Glace Bay from as long as I can remember, we lived two doors down from each other in our homes and went to school each day together for years. During both our RCAF years we were on separate paths and never had a chance to reconnect, he was my only boyhood friend and I never will forget our friendship,
John Macleod
