July 3, 1932 ~ September 30, 2023

Ron passed suddenly but peacefully on September 30, 2023 in the Pinawa Hospital.

Dad was born on July 3, 1932, in Winnipeg.  He was the youngest of four born to Alexander and Clara.  His brothers, Hamilton and Arnold and sister Dorothy have all predeceased him.  He has also been predeceased by his beloved wife, Marg and daughter, Laurie.  Dad is survived by and will be deeply missed and forever loved by daughter Valerie and nephew Rob, with whom he shared a very special bond.  He will also be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Dad lived in Winnipeg and worked for CN Rail and Imperial Oil until 1963 when he and his young family moved to Pinawa.  He worked at “The Plant” until retirement in 1993.  He was very proud to be a Pinawa Pioneer.

Dad loved the outdoor life, fishing and boating in the summer.  Fishing trips to High Wind were some of his happiest memories.  In the winter it was snowmobiling and, for some strange reason, shovelling snow.  In his later years he was happy to sit on the deck and watch the wildlife wander through the back yard.

There will be no formal service.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity of your choice.

See ya Dad.  Now you can go for as long a walk as you want.

Condolences for the family of “Ronald Hugh MacLean”

Condolence from Louise Daymond on October 3rd, 2023 11:26 am

Val, I will always hold the memories of our life on McMillan and your entire family near and dear to my heart.
Ron was always happy to chat and had a smile on his face whenever our paths crossed. He loved reading The Paper and never failed to ask questions about what was going on in town. We had a lot of laughs at Bingo back in the day and I even manage to call the right numbers for him (and your mom) once in a while.
Wishing you much love and peace …
Louise

So very sad to hear of Ron’s passing.. He was a fixture at coffee in the Pinawa Club, we had a lot of laughs together. When I decided to move to the city in 2019 one of the last phone calls I received before leaving Pinawa was from Ron, wishing me well. I deeply appreciated his thoughtfulness. That was Ron, one of the good guys

My deepest sympathy, Val, in the passing of your dear father. I have very fond memories of Ron going back to the very early years. Whenever I met up with Ron, he always had a smile and a cheery word for the day – a very kind man. Remembering your mom, Marg, and Laurie, too, with much fondness. May comfort, peace and loving memories be yours as you grieve for your family.

My deepest condolences on your Dad’s passing. I got to sit with him the end of August. We held hands and crumbled together, then laughed and shared a hug. We could always laugh whenever we shared a hello. A good heart! Hugs!

Val,
My deepest condolences in the passing of your dad, Ron!! Over the past 1/2 century, I have always enjoyed meeting up with Ron on the street, in the mall, or wherever, in Pinawa and he would have a cheery greeting plus a big smile to go along with it. Ron was a kind and friendly resident in our town and brightened my day many times. Praying for comfort, and good memories of your dad to fill your heart and mind and give you peace.
