December 3, 1935 ~ June 14, 2017
Ron passed away peacefully, with the love of his family surrounding him, at East Gate Lodge in Beausejour, Manitoba on Wednesday, June 14, 2017.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Pat, of almost 12 years; his daughter Jannie (Lawrence); sons Ron (Moe), Jeff (Kim), Bob and Scott (Maia). He is also survived by his grandchildren, T.J., Brett, Brady, Justin, Mason, Layton and Ethan and great grandchildren, Carson and Brodi. Also left to mourn his passing are his sister Jacqueline, brother Barry, brothers in-law Bill and Peter, sister in-law Teena, and his mother in-law Elsie. Left with wonderful memories of their uncle are Dawn, Darren, Shannon, Carrie, Chris, Shawn, Wanda, Michael, Andrea, Lauren, Gord, Grant, Gary and Karen.
Dad was predeceased by his first wife of 39 wonderful years, Gloria; his parent Michael and Laura; siblings Joyce, Jim, Doug, and Bobby; father in-law Bill; and favourite cousin George Cameron of Rossburn, MB.
Ron’s first love was his wife and family. It was very important that we gathered together for special occasions, shared a meal and heard about what was happening in our lives-good or bad. He was always there for each and every one of us no matter what our need.
Hockey was in Ron’s blood. He enjoyed being a referee and coach, and watching hockey games on TV and in the local arenas.
Ron grew up in Rossburn, Tyndall and Winnipeg. In the late 1970s, he moved his family to Beausejour to start Cam’s Automotive and Farm Parts. He later owned several other businesses in the community. Ron was very involved in the community as a volunteer Ambulance attendant, a member of the Lion’s Club and the Beausejour Royal Canadian Legion Br #132. He was also active in the Minor Hockey League Association.
We would like to thank Ron’s East Gate Lodge family-the wonderful staff that cared for Ron and all the auxiliary staff who would stop to say hello, share a hug and a laugh with Ron. Special thanks to Ron’s favourite nurse, Robin-his angel. You were all there for us, especially in Ron’s last days, and we will never forget you.
A Celebration of Ron’s Life will be held on Friday, June 23 at 1:30 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue E., Beausejour.
Donations in memory of Ron can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Manitoba or East Gate Lodge Personal Care Home.
