April 11, 1953 ~ December 29, 2016
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Richard Weger on Thursday, December 29, after a brief illness and with his family by his side.
He has gone to join his father Ewald and brother Robert who passed before him. Left to mourn his passing are his children, grandchildren, mother Vivian, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
Richard had recently retired from Manitoba Hydro where he had worked for 40+ years. Following retirement Richard became an even bigger hockey fan. He was an avid Selkirk Steelers fan and was the greeter at all the games.
We would like to thank the care team at Health Science Centre ICU for their excellent care.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 7 at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Ave. E, Beausejour, MB.
Donations may be made in Richard’s memory to the Steelers Hockey Club, 1011 Manitoba Ave., Selkirk, MB R1A 3T7.

Our deepest condolences to you Viv and to your family. We miss Richard’s smiling face at his post at those doors at Steeler’s games as he greeted each and every fan to the games. Every-time we enter the arena through ‘that’ door we will remember Richard and all those great chats we had. Cherish all of your memories ~ for they will get you through the rough patches.
