Phyllis Rosentreter (nee Luy)

August 20, 1928 to June 18, 2011

We have a hole in our hearts today as the Rosentreter family announces the passing of our beloved Mom, Wife, Grandma and Great Grandma from Pine Falls, Manitoba.

Mom is survived by her adoring husband Bill, the love of her life for almost 65 years of marriage. Devoted Mother to sons Allan (Donna), Jack (Heather) and Kurt(Shannon). She was so proud of her five loving granddaughters Rieva (Andy) McCuaig, Kelly (Ryan), Katie, Chloe, Kira and one energetic great grandson Kieran.

The centre of Mom’s world were the “boys”, their families and the whole Luy and Rosentreter extended family, and having them all home with her and Dad often. For more than fifty years, Phyllis welcomed everyone into her home as there was always room for one more at the kitchen table while she fed you her culinary specialties with loving hospitality and kindness, demanding your commitment to come back again soon.

Mom’s living room beamed with pictures of grandchildren and as the family spread further across Canada she took a course to learn how to email so she could continue to stay in touch. She lovingly attended to her vegetable garden, the flowerbeds and the humming bird feeder by the front window that was a flurry of activity for all of us to enjoy every summer. Mom could routinely be seen driving around town “coffeeing” with her girlfriends whom she loved dearly. Mom was someone that long time residents of Pine Falls knew well – and as one good friend said, “heaven received a gem today”.

In today’s busy world where maintaining relationships with extended family can be hard, Mom’s regular close contact with her sisters Anne (deceased), Rose (deceased), Cass, Bud, Virg and Don, and their families, and Dan and Lil and Jack (deceased) and Helen (deceased) was a lesson to us all about love, taking time and caring no matter the distance or situation. Mom stayed in touch. Mom was there for people.

The family wishes to express its deep appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Pine Falls Hospital for their dedication and care of Mom.

A celebration of Mom’s life occured in August 2011 with a date to be announced.

Donations in Mom’s memory can be made to the Pine Falls General Hospital, The Parkinson Society of Canada (www.parkinson.ca) or a charity of your choice.

Online condolences may be made at www.soberingfuneralchapel.com

Mom, we will always love you and remember you – thank you for caring so much and showing us the way.

Condolences to the Rosentreter family, Mrs Rosentreter certainly was a gem she was always helping and organizing community events in the town of Pine Falls. Heaven certainly got one of the best of us all. Her hospitality to friends and others was felt with everybody she met. Deepest condolences to the family and especially my friend from grade school Kurt, god bless
