Peter Denisuik

July 20, 1920 ~ March 27, 2011

On Sunday, March 27, 2011 at the Rose Unit of East Gate Lodge, Peter passed away peacefully with his family at his side. He is survived by his son Gerry (Irma ) and their children Kyla (Jon Dickey) and Trevor and great-grandchild, Calleigh; his son Curt (Kathy Thomson) and their children Andrew and Tyler; sisters Olga and Winnie; and numerous nieces & nephews. Peter is predeceased by his wife Teenie in 1989 and siblings William, Tillie, Stella, Pauline, Katherine and Nettie.

Peter was born in 1920 and was raised in Pine Falls. He married Teenie (Froehlich) in 1941; after a short time in Toronto and Hamilton, they eventually settled in Manitoba farming and raising their family in Greenwald. After Teenie’s death, Peter left his much-loved farm in 1991 to live in Beausejour with Gerry and Irma where he spent many happy years filling his days with family, driving in the country and visiting with his many friends at Chicken Delight. Peter moved to Stony Plaines Terrace in 2009 and East-Gate Lodge (Rose Unit) in February 2011. No matter where he lived, Peter found much happiness with family, friends and any activity he could find. Peter’s grandchildren & great-grand daughter were his greatest joy; he loved unconditionally and was the best fan, party-goer, chauffeur, prankster, and encourager. His grandchildren are left with many happy ‘Grandpa Pete’ stories.

Peter was always blessed with wonderful care-providers; his health and life were made better by many especially Dr. VanRensburg, Home Care and Stony Plaines Terrace staff. A special thanks to the staff of the Rose Unit in East Gate Lodge, our angels in uniforms, who provided compassionate and expert care to Peter and his family during our most difficult days. Also thanks to Sobering Funeral Chapel and Doug and Marlene Sobering for their support, special attention and friendship.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 2 at 2:00 p.m. with viewing from 1:00-2:00 at Sobering Funeral Chapel in Beausejour with Pastor Bart Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Trevor, Andrew and Tyler Denisuik, Jon Dickey, Brian and Todd Denysuik.

Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made to East Gate Lodge, Rose Unit, Box 1690, Beausejour, MB, R0E 0C0.

Rest in peace Peter.
Your Chicken Delight pals are waiting for you
with a cup of coffee and many laughs.
