Paul John Proceviat

1934 ~ 2018

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle, Paul John Proceviat who passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital on December 30, 2018 at the age of 84.

He was predeceased by his parents John and Mary, sister Nellie, brother Tony and sister in-law Grace.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Rose of 64 years.  He is survived by his daughters Valerie and Connie and son in-law Lorne as well as his granddaughter Lyndsay (Adam) and great grandsons Parker and Rylan.  As well, he leaves his beloved dog Tye.

Dad and Mom lived in Rennie for most of their lives where they raised their daughters. Dad retired from CN Railway after 35 years of service but continued to operate Paul’s Plumbing and Heating as well as built and operated two campgrounds in Rennie (Rocky Ridge Trailer Park and Campground and Rocky Ridge Place) where they made many lifelong friendships.

Dad took great pleasure in operating his backhoe up until this year and did many projects over the years in the Whiteshell Provincial Park and surrounding areas.

Dad very much enjoyed socializing with friends and family and especially loved family get togethers. Visitors were always welcome in their home.

Dad loved the Rennie curling bonspiels and enjoyed watching curling on TV.

When Dad was younger he enjoyed snowmobiling and the annual moose hunting trips with brother Harry, Allan and Zak as well as numerous other friends.

On top of all of Dad’s work he had a dream of becoming a pilot so acquired his private pilots license and owned 2 airplanes. When Dad set his mind on something there wasn’t much he couldn’t accomplish with his strong will and determination.

Dad started dialysis in March 2009, so Mom and Dad spent time at their residence in Selkirk where Dad did dialysis. They recently moved to Amber Meadow retirement community in Winnipeg.

Thank you to Seven Oaks hospital for their care and compassion and a special thank you to the staff at Selkirk Dialysis unit.

Funeral Service will be on Saturday, January 5 at 10:30 a.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue E ., Beausejour with viewing one hour prior to the service.  Interment will follow in Holy Cross Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery in Elma, MB.  Pallbearers: Tim North, Trevor Proceviat, Kurtis Proceviat, Clifford Prystie, Roger Fisk, Don Kurlowich.  Honorary Pallbearers: Dale Fisk, Percy Brown, Jim Baxted, Andy Larson

In lieu of flowers, donations in Dad’s memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation.

    Dear Rosie & Family..
Our Love & Prayers are with you all at this difficult time & you are all in our thoughts more than you know…
We are truly saddened by our “Uncle” Paul’s passing..We will miss him more than we can say…as well you know.
His many kindnesses, his great sense of humor & his awesome honesty with us all.. (Suffice it to say..he did not like B.S. in any shape or form!)..
These were a few of the many reasons we loved him for the wonderful man he was! He was the salt of the earth & if he liked you..you were indeed very fortunate..& there weren’t many people our “Uncle” Paul did not like. He was indeed an original & was loved more than he knew..
We use to call him the Energy Bunny..cuz he just kept going & going..no matter what! Nothing could slow him down, even it tried too & it did..to no avail!
Somehow..right now.. we picture him in the great beyond..having a blast in his beloved backhoe.. going like stink..young & whole again!!

    Love & Hugs to all…

God Bless & see you soon…
    Jim & Carol
