1949 ~ 2020
Peacefully, on Thursday, November 12th, 2020, surrounded by family, Patricia Lorraine Hladki of Winnipeg, aged 71 years old, passed away at the Health Sciences Center.
Patricia was born on July 29th, 1949 in Selkirk, Manitoba. Medical issues in her childhood caused her to lose her hearing and her ability to speak. It broke our hearts when she had to leave home at seven years old to attend the School for the Deaf in Saskatoon until 1965 when the Manitoba School for the Deaf opened. She went on to graduate, took technical training and was fortunate to secure employment with Manitoba Health Services as a data entry clerk for over thirty-three years until her retirement.
Patricia was a single, strong-willed and very independent person who never let her handicap slow her down. She loved her job and enjoyed living in Winnipeg, where she purchased her condo. She loved going shopping and also enjoyed fine dining and going to movies. She always found time to spend many weekends in her hometown visiting with her family. We will always have fond memories of our times spent together that were filled with lots of laughter and good food.
Patricia is survived by her daughter Kristin, brothers Jerry (Cecilia) of Langley, B.C. and Donnie (Norma) of Lac du Bonnet, MB, nieces Donna Hardman (Jarett) of La Salle. MB and Nancy Gray (Chad) of Winnipeg, MB, great-nephews Reid and Liam and great-nieces Drew and Riley.
She was predeceased by her parents Romeo and Mary, brother Del and nephew Jared.
We are grateful to her neighbour Mirna who was always there to help her and was so kind to her. Mirna held a special spot in Patricia’s heart.
Our family also extends our heartfelt thanks to Stacey and all the medical staff for the compassion and excellent care she received in the A5 and B5 units at the Health Sciences Center.
At Patricia’s request, cremation has taken place and a private internment will take place at a later date.

i will never forget the conversations me and pat would have every Wednesday and Sunday they were the highlight of my shift when i worked at my first job on corydon. she would come every week with new highlights from books, magazine articles, and the newspaper she had acquired from that week to talk about through notes.
growing up and living in the corydon area i would see Patricia in the neighborhood she always had warm hug no matter the time of year.
she will be missed.
