August 20, 1963 – November 1, 2021
It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our partner, father, and grandpa, Norman Lavoie.
He leaves behind his beloved partner Gail; daughters Katrina (Cameron), Kandace (Mark), and Kayla (Mathew); grandsons Tavis, Austin, Bennett, Maxton and Logan; granddaughter Madison; along with Gail’s children Brittany (Curtis) and Brad; and grandchildren Taylor, Maci and Jayden and sister Penny.
He was predeceased by his father Edmond Lavoie and mother Margaret Lavoie; brother Roy Lavoie; and nephew Kevin Lavoie.
From a young age of 5, Dad’s passion for life was very evident, with him starting his tinkering around and disassembling engines. He bought a dirt bike with the money he earned, which led to the love of his life–racing snowmobiles and becoming a legend in Eagle River. The last 10 years, Dad’s dream came true; being head mechanic of the Hart Roofing race team, where he got to be with his 2 sons that he never had, Craig Obie and Glen Hart.
Dad will be remembered for his knowledge of mechanics. Some would have called him a wizard with how he could diagnose an engine by listening to it over phone. Having 3 daughters gave Dad a lot of unpaid jobs with vehicle repairs and kept him on his toes. In Dad’s free time he enjoyed the outdoors with Gail where they would go hunting and fishing.
‘MacGyver’ had many inventions that kept him up all night where he would reward himself with a late night pizza.
Your hard work here is done, we wish for you to rest in peace. You will be loved forever and never forgotten.
The family really appreciates the kind words from all friends. We would like to thank the Beausejour first responders and medical staff that provided their assistance and support, and special nurse Scotty for providing extra care and kindness.
We interrupt the first day of rifle season to honour our big hunter Norm Lavoie for a funeral service that will be held at Sobering Funeral Chapel on Monday, November 8th, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.

I only got to know Norm a few years ago. He helped me out with my car by making a special hose for the cooling system with his MacGyver ways. He was always very helpful and friendly. He was very proud of his family. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. Rest in peace my friend.

It is with great sadness, we share our condolences to Gail, family and close friends of Norm. Norm amazed us with his brilliance as our trusted mechanic, repairing all my cars and snowmobiles over the past 30 years. His quick diagnosis of any problems was remarkable. His kind cheerful character will always be remembered. May Norm rest In Peace.

I am so sorry for your loss. It’s hard to remember that the blinding sorrow you feel right now will pass. That a shared memory will replace the tears you can’t stop now, with laughter of a remembered event.
In time you will realize that you still hate his favorite hat…. and miss his greasy boots on the clean kitchen floor. When the silence is too loud, do what you can, reach out to friends and take a hug when you need it. Take the quiet times and use the time to reflect.
Give yourself the time you need to heal. Be kind to yourself. Nobody will miss him more that you.
If you need a place to hide, call me. xxoo
ps. they are probably fishing….
Gerald & Lori Obie

Norman and I have been very good friends for going on 20 years. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for me, and I the same for him. He was my friend (as many up there are) from a couple hours north of Roseau, Mn. And we had many many good memories. His home was mine for race weekends, and mine his for any travels he ventured this way. My condolences to all of his family and friends, who he loved very much, be assured of that! He is gone waaaaay too soon. And I’m very sad I didn’t get to say goodbye.
Rest easy my old friend. We will never forget you❤

I watched the celebration of life online, and it was easy to hear the joy everyone had sharing their stories and how much Norm enjoyed life with his family and friends. Those memories will live on forever in your hearts and he will be watching over every check engine light his family encounters. God Bless.

Deepest sympathies to Norms family. A good man gone too soon. Had the pleasure of doing custom machining for a few of his many race sleds he built over the years and sponsoring some of his prestige race sleds that he built. Norm was a perfectionist and took pride in every machine he built. We lost a good man, mechanic, legend and most of all a friend. R.I.P.

Thoughts and prayers for your loss Gail, Norm’s girls, and their families. Norm always had a minute to help over the phone and mom and dad spoke highly of him in and out of the shop. He will be missed.
