1945 ~ 2014
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dearly beloved Norma Darlene Kuzdak on March 15, 2014 at the age of 68. Darlene was born on September 15, 1945 in Selkirk, Manitoba. She was the first born of 12 children lovingly raised by parents Mary Jane & Alexander Simard of Manigotagan.
Darlene leaves to mourn her partner, Donnie MacLellan, her four children, Wayne (Barbara), Charlene, Vince (Connie), Michelle; four step-children, Lewis (Chantelle), Marion, Debra, and Jennifer (Aaron); grandchildren Jaron (Paige), Janessa, Kara, Madison, Katelyn, Cameron and Daniel. Mom fought hard to stay with us long enough to meet her first great grandchild, Lillian Michele.
Also left to mourn are her 86 year old mother, Mary-Jane Simard, siblings Charles (Marilyn), Freeman, Leon (Jean) Allana, Reg (MJ), Sandy, Laver, Rhonda (Brent), Amanda (Jerry), numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and special friends. Darlene was predeceased by her father Alex Simard & brothers Larry and Rudy.
Mom’s soul was felt by many, through her expression of music and lively support for her beloved sports teams. Mom found a home in the kitchen where her passion for providing home cooked meals for her family gave her such joy. She loved creating special dishes for each of her children and nothing pleased her more than watching her grandchildren enjoy her lovingly created goodies. Her love for culinary arts was shared all over Manitoba cooking at different mining, fishing camps and businesses. While working in Ontario she met her soul mate Donnie MacLellan and they were destined to spend many wonderful love filled years together.
The family would like to thank everyone for all the love and support during the last year. Many thanks to the Selkirk Hospital medical staff and CancerCare Manitoba for all the heartfelt care and compassion given to mom.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at the Manigotagan Community Hall. It was mom’s wish to be cremated and laid to rest by her father and brothers. Honourary pallbearers will be her brothers, sisters and special friends. A private family service will be held at a later date.
Flowers are gratefully accepted or a donation may be made in Darlene’s name to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V5.
