Mom passed away in her sleep in the early morning of September 8, 2020.
She was predeceased by her dear husband, Don Bauer of 27 yrs., her parents George & Lillian Cox, her brother Edwin, sons Andre (in birth) & Tony Stefanzio, many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She leaves behind, her only daughter Donene and her husband Frank Sawatzky (who was #1 in her mind). The way he lovingly cared for her, her home and property after Don passed. This helped her remain in her home in the country where she was truly happy. She had the privilege of being ‘gramma’ to Dana, husband Srecko, great granddaughters Rianna and Talise Vasik, Joel, wife Bre, great grandson Vincent and great granddaughter Nevica Sawatzky, Melissa and her husband Adam Rivers. Mom was fortunate enough to have ‘a forever friend’ in Judy Vann. She often spoke of how rare it was to know and love someone from childhood to the grave, and this she found in her dear Judy. Mom also leaves nieces and their families, Don’s siblings, as well as extended family and many dear friends.
Mom was a beautiful lady, an avid reader and very much the consummate host. We have many happy memories to hold close. Mom and Don made the Brokenhead Region their home in the 90’s and felt some of their best memories were here.
In keeping with mom’s wishes there will be no formal memorial held. We would like to thank her wonderful caregivers, Dr. D. Schmidt and the staff at Beausejour Health Centre and Hospital, as well as Dr. Komolafe and the staff at Arborg Hospital. A special thank you to Mom’s friends at Springfield Place.

Doneen and Family,
Sorry to read about the lose of your mother. It has been years since I have seen any of you but there are times when I think about all the people that lived in the apartments on Bannatyne. Your mother was a wonderful woman who gave of herself without expecting anything in return. May your memories help you through this difficult time.
Donene Sawatzky
thank you so much Donna. I think of the people too. I felt like we were a sort of community, I felt connected to all of you growing up.
we worked hard to try and keep up Bannatyne. they were a beautiful set of buildings back in the day. I remember polishing the floors, and wiping all the wood with liquid gold polish. oak everywhere. we were proud of the apartments and respected the people. thanking you for writing and for your beautiful words, we really appreciate it. Donene
