1924 ~ 2022
It is with much sadness that our family announces the passing of our mother, “Millie”, Mildred Geraldine Dufort, peacefully, at the Beausejour Hospital, on the evening of the 17th of June, 2022.
Millie was born in Ontario. She was preceded by her husband, Rudolphe Jean Dufort, by her parents, Jack and Flora McDonald, as well as her sisters, Kay Scalzo and Lillian Powell. She will be missed by her sisters, Nancy Stafford, Noela Wright, Lara Noga, her immediate family; her sons Donald, Gerald, Richard and Bernard, her daughters Michelle (Dewey) and Yvonne (Corbett), as well as by her grandchildren.
Mildred enjoyed a life beyond the average person’s dreams, as outlined in her
Autobiography, “The Lure of the North.” She was a full-spirited world explorer, born in Kenyon, Ontario, schooled, and married in Manitoba, raised her family in Hay River, NWT and Uranium City SK, collected antiques in Miramichi, NB and finally settled into the Anola and Beausejour, Manitoba area.
Please take a moment to remember and celebrate Millie’s extraordinary life. Life Celebration Event will be held on Monday, July 11th, 12:30 p.m. to 3:30p.m. at Anola Community Centre.

What an amazing woman. My condolences.

Millie was my neighbour who became a very good friend. We spent many hours talking about our life in the north & many other things as well. Living in Saskatchewan or Manitoba, the communities were isolated and alike in many unique ways. Millie was talented in so many ways with arts & crafts. At 97 years she was still discussing politics & sewing quilts, She really was amazing! May you always be happy as you walk a new path. I will miss you! Alys

Extending my sympathies to Millie‘s families…
I met Millie in 2018 when she said “do you want to come to Greece,” and I said SURE. We had the most amazing trip,!!
Millie, Gerald and I ended up taking two more trips together. We usually ended up laughing like two school girls as we both were up for adventure and laughter
Our friendship was very special, almost like mother/daughter.
She was quite sad when I moved to Canmore in January, 2022 but she knew I needed to be close to family. We still kept in touch by phone.
MILLIE, you were an amazing woman and I learned so much from you.
I loved you dearly and I certainly miss you and our laughter.

My sympathies to the family of Milly Dufort. I have known her for many years but never realized just how talented she was. At 97 years of age and she was still into doing so many of her hobbies and crafts. We have lost a most interesting and vibrant lady. May she Rest In Peace.

I’m sure you know that Millie was a truly good friend to me. I am not well enough to be at the memorial on Monday but my prayers and thoughts are with everyone of you. Millie was special. If I needed advice or know how to do something I called her. She always knew. She had so many ideas that she couldn’t do them all. I will treasure our talk just a few hours before she passed. I will also treasure to my last day all the beautiful crafts she gave me and members of my family. We have lost a tremendous lady.
