Dear Aunty Joany, Barry, Jackie and your families ~

My heart is with yours as you go through this time of saying goodbye to your husband and dad. Uncle Mike was my ‘city uncle’ who had a real cabin at the lake. I remember dad and Uncle Mike going hunting and all the excitement of getting a deer. Mom used to put onions in dad’s socks and toothpicks in his sandwiches because she didn’t want him to go hunting and I guess she thought she’d jokingly let him know. I wonder if Uncle Mike thought she was nuts?

I’m so so glad to have seen Uncle Mike in Winnipeg in October, so grateful he could come to dinner at Kathy’s. And now I’m glad that when I look up into the clouds, over the hilltops or over the ocean here in NZ, I can think of Uncle Mike and know he can be right here in essence.

Love to you all and big hugs all around x x x Melanie
Love also from Mark, Jag and Finn
