1923 ~ 2015
In the company of her family, with an amazing grace, mom left us to be with her Lord and Saviour. She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Donna (Larry) Lashek, Glen Lafreniere, Laura (Randy) Gmiterek; four grandchildren: Kelvin, Derek (Cheryl), Nicholas (friend Erin) and Jesse; two great grandchildren: Alexis and Hailey. She is also survived by her sisters: Cora (Harold) Ott and Isabel Mostowy; sisters in-law: Nettie and Jean Scholz and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Joe and son Keith, both in 2005. She was also predeceased by her brothers: Martin (Eva), Norman and Gordon Scholz; sisters: Margaret (Roy) Richardson, Rosie (Ross) Masynk and Helen Scholz.
May was born to Martin and Mary Scholz on October 23, 1923 in Winnipeg, MB. In her early childhood they moved to Golden Bay, MB where she worked alongside her 8 siblings on their family farm.
As a young woman seeking adventure, she moved to Atikokan, ON with her best friend Dorothy. Together, they found work in a canteen at the Steep Rock Iron Ore Mine. It was there where she met the love of her life Joe and they were wed on January 1, 1949 back in Beausejour, MB where later they would settle. In her middle years, she began work at Pitch`s Department Store. After retirement they travelled to many destinations with their motorhome when they were not enjoying the peace of cottage life.
Our mother had a great love for nature and all that it provided. She greatly enjoyed living her life to the fullest, creating simple fun. She had a huge sense of humour, witt and never took anything too serious.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Khan and the staff at the Beausejour Hospital for their compassion and care.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 12 at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 418 Gertrude Avenue, Beausejour with viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Beausejour Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grace Lutheran Church, Box 538, Beausejour, MB R0E 0C0 or the Beausejour Hospital TV Fund.

My deepest condolences to Donna, Glen and Laura. It is always hard to loose someone but it is especially hard to lose a parent. Try to put a smile in your heart knowing she is at peace and with her husband, son, brothers and sisters and parents. Take care, be strong and god bless.

My deepest condolences to my cousins Donna, Glen, Laura and their families on the passing of Aunty May. Aunty May will always live in my memory. I can see her and hear her wonderful laugh. It takes me back to many happy times spent in her company.
Unfortunately I am in Mexico and will not be able to make it to Beausejour in time for the funeral. My thoughts are with you at this time. Eternal rest grant onto her O’Lord and may the perpetual light shine upon her.
Your loving cousin,
Patrick.

Please know that we are all thinking of everyone on this day. Uncle Joe and Auntie Mae provided for so many good times and laughs for me on our trips to Beasejour. She will be missed but always in our memories.
