1921 ~ 2015
It is with heavy hearts we announce that our Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma during the early morning hours, with her daughter by her side, was called to Heaven to be reunited with Dad.
She was predeceased by her parents David and Alta Collett, her husband Ron, her brothers Maynard and Gerald.
Mom and Dad were married for close to 60 years. They enjoyed travelling together to Hawaii and visiting many states in the US. After Dad’s passing, Mom travelled with friends to the east coast and Alaska.
Mom and Dad spent every spring and fall at The Lake Manitoba Narrows enjoying camping, fishing and spending time with new friends and old ones. In the summer they followed harness racing which is a special memory they leave to their granddaughters, Natalie and Jennifer. Mom loved to knit, sew and crochet; she was always making something for someone. She made baptismal gowns and baby clothes for her great grandchildren that will be cherished and passed down. Mom was always there for the special events in our life’s, and was especially excited at the birth of her great grandchildren. Her great grandchildren will miss their monthly class intergenerational learning visits, they got to share alone with her.
Mom lived in East Gate Lodge Personal Care for the past 5 years. Mom was a caring and loving person, liked by all. She had a great sense of humour and loved to tell stories of her life and her daughter, especially to the evening staff.
We would especially like to thank Dr. Van Rensburg and all the staff at East Gate for all their care and support. They are like family.
Survived by Mom are her children Bob (Marni), Judy (Danny Bergson); her grandchildren Natalie (Richard), Seth and Racine and Jennifer (Gary), Konnor and Emma; and her special son John (Debbie) Hewitt; her sister Ruth and numerous family and friends.
As per Mom’s wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to East Gate Lodge Personal Care Home, Box 1690, Beausejour, MB R0E 0C0.
Always in our hearts, never to be forgotten.

Our sincere sympathy. We remember Maxine as a friendly, smiling cheerful lady. I am sure Ron and Maxine are on a fishing trip together again, probably at the narrows.

My condolences to everyone in the family. Maxine leaves us with many happy memories. She was always so very welcoming when we stopped by for a visit, and interested in what everyone else was up to.
