November 5, 1923 ~November 29, 2021
It is with great sadness we announce Mary’s passing on November 29, 2021 at East Gate Lodge in Beausejour.
She arrived in Canada in 1930 from Korsun Brody, Poland and received her certificate of Canadian citizenship January 29, 1970.
She was predeceased by husband Joseph Urbanski in March, 1974, Stephen Lozinski 2009 and son Ronald Urbanski in 2018. She is survived by daughter Grace (Vern) Decterow; son Richard Urbanski; grandchildren John-Paul Urbanski (Linnet), William Urbanski (Miky Lee) and Kathryn Urbanski; great grandchildren Elise and Collin; and daughter-in-law Charlotte Urbanski.
After passing of husband Joseph Urbanski, Mary moved to Beausejour. She was a member of CWL St. Mary’s Council since 1977. She worked at East Gate Lodge in the kitchen as a cook for 10 years. After entering East Gate Lodge she was often advising recreation staff on cooking ideas. Mary loved cooking, baking, canning, berry and mushroom picking.
We would like to give a special thanks to Cindee Bialek and all her staff on the Crocus Unit for their professional care and kindness during Mom’s stay.

My sympathies and God’s loving comfort and peace to all of Mary’s family.
I first met Mary at East-Gate Lodge in 1976. She was a cook in the kitchen and I had the privilege of being hired as the new receptionist. It did not take long for Mary’s friendliness and warm heart to totally endear her to me.
One of our favourite stories we enjoyed talking about for years after was an outing we did together attending an outdoor Christian event at Birds Hill Park and where once back at my place after the event we stayed parked in my car till the wee hours of the morning to talk, talk and talk about things. This memory always made us chuckle!
Mary was a special lady to me and although as life moved on and we hardly saw each other, it is with loving gratitude that her memory as a dear friend is forever treasured in my heart. Till we see each other again. Rest in God’s glory Mary.
Vern & Grace
Thanks – what a beautiful tribute and stories.

Our deepest sympathies to Grace and Vern,Richard and family. We will always remember our dear friend Mary with love , being grateful for her kindness , generosity and her looked at life with a great sense of humour. We enjoyed our visits as well as sampling some wonderful baking and sharing recipes. A perfect hostess. A fun and hard working member of the CWL, which, come to think of it, I never did get that top to my roaster back?

So very sorry for your loss. Mary was such a special, kind and generous lady. I loved visiting ‘my twin’ (we have the same birthday, Nov 5), seeing her in church, and loved baking and learning perogy making from her. It was always fun visiting her – she loved cracking jokes and making sure everyone was fed. haha I will miss you Mary and love you very much.

Dear Grace, Vern and family.
My sincerest condolences to you. Mary and Steve were our dear neighbours. Mary was not only my coffee buddy, my dearest friend. Always kind, generous. Sharing Ukrainian baking and dishes. We spent many evenings in the back yard having coffee and goodies with Steve and Bob. Mary had a very strong faith and was a great example of God’s spirit fully alive working through her in everyone she met.
With moving to B.C. We weren’t in touch as often but we had a great chat a few months ago and she warmed my heart. Great memories. Vichnya Pamyat. Rest In Peace!
Bob and Stephanie Babey.
Grace and Vern Decterow
Thanks so much for the wonderful message about mom – yes she thought you were the best of the best neighbors that her and Steve had. Everytime I would visit Mom and Steve there was Stephanie and then along comes Bob. Fr. Rene had a beautiful service as service held at Sobering with their wonderful service. Hope we see you sometime and now we have memories to live on. She loved your girls and still talked about them. Thanks
