1932 – 2019

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Marie Rose (Rose) Kowalchuk, who passed away peacefully with family by her side at the Pinawa Hospital on November 8, 2019, at the age of 86.

Rose leaves behind her husband of 65 years, Steve.  Rose will be lovingly remembered by her children Joan, Irene, Stanley, Michael and Donna; her grandchildren and many loving relatives.

Rose was born on December 18, 1932 into a large French Canadian family and raised on a farm in Alida, Saskatchewan with her 12 siblings.  Although life on the farm was not easy, Rose had many fond memories; especially of driving trucks and tractors with her siblings. Her motto was “I’m rough and tough”.

The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home for the care and compassion they showed our mother.  Rose’s favorite outing was to Chicken Chef and we’d like thank all the staff at Chicken Chef and Two Rivers Handivan for making those outings so enjoyable.

A small private memorial service for friends and family will be held at Sobering Funeral Chapel in Beausejour, MB on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 2:00 pm.  For those who want to attend, please contact Sobering Funeral Chapel at (204) 268-3510.

Thank you very much for the condolences and for thinking about us. It’s still such a shock. Mom wanted to do a trip to Saskatchewan but it just wasn’t possible. Take care, Donna
