It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother, Maria Bloos on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at Villa Youville in Ste. Anne, MB.
Maria is survived by her daughter Susanne and son in-law Rick Wastle and their 3 sons Felix, Rory and Thomas. She was predeceased by her husband Michael and her parents Karl and Emilie Hintz.
Maria was born in Omurcea, Romania in 1922, attending school in her village, then later in the city of Constanza by the Black Sea. Due to the upheaval of the war, she and her parents fled their homeland, eventually settling in Germany. She and her fiancé Michael came to Canada in 1953 and were married in Plumas, MB. After working there and in Winnipeg for several years, they settled on a farm in the Anola area. Maria worked hard all her life, together with her husband, building up their home and farm. She enjoyed cooking and baking, sewing and gardening. She loved flowers and animals, valued her Christian beliefs, and always had time for friends and family.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 24 at Ostenfeld Lutheran Church with interment to follow in the Millbrook Cemetery. Viewing will be at the church prior to the service.
If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to Ostenfeld Lutheran Church or to the Villa Youville.
Thank you to all who helped Maria along life’s way over the years.
