1952 ~ 2022
We are saddened to share that Louise Esther Barnsdale (nee Tirschman) passed away peacefully on October 9th, 2022 with her family at her side at the age of 70.
Louise was predeceased by her parents Walter and Jean Tirschman, brother George, sister Judy, nephew Trevor, daughter Elizabeth, brothers-in-law Eddie, Danny and Glenn and father-in-law Roy Barnsdale Sr. She is survived by her husband of 33 years Roy Barnsdale Jr, daughters Terinia (Ken), Paula (Denis), Samatha, siblings Susan (Alfred), Gary (Pina), Art (Bev), grand-children/great grand-child, nieces and nephews.
Mom was born in Whitemouth on September 15, 1952; 1 of 6 children to Walter and Jean Tirschman. She grew up in Seven Sisters Falls and enjoyed all there was to being raised in the country near the Tirschmann Family Farm in River Hills. As a young girl, she enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her grand-mother, aunts, uncles, siblings, and cousins at the Farm.
Mom went on to experience life in different cities and provinces – from Jenpeg, Cardale and Brandon, Manitoba to Calgary, Alberta. She moved back to her hometown of Seven Sisters in the early 80’s and then to Garson in the 90’s where she still lived upon her passing. She worked in the Hospitality Industry and Office settings over her career and was a Collections Agent prior to her retirement. It’s hard to imagine this tiny woman as a Collections Agent but her helpful, caring attitude made her quite successful.
Mom enjoyed reading, gardening, canning, and cooking traditional dishes like cabbage rolls and pierogi’s using family recipes. She made sure to pass these recipes and techniques along to others. There were many pierogi making marathon weekends with family and friends and lots of laughter. She was forever giving away jars of homemade pickles, pickled beets, and other goodies. She was also known for stealing strawberries grown by her son-in-law with the biggest smile on her face!
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice.
We would like to sincerely thank the Pinawa staff for their care and compassion.
