Lori Margaret Dunford Robb

Posted By Sobering Funeral Chapel On January 25, 2018 @ 4:05 pm In Obituaries | 36 Comments

Born: November, 1958 Regina Saskatchewan,

On January 23rd, 2018, Lori Margaret Dunford Robb passed away suddenly after a short battle with cancer.  She was 59 years old.

Lori is survived by her husband of almost 40 years, Donald, her son David (Shantel), her daughter Alaina (Sean), and her two granddaughters Adilynn and Emily.  Her mother May, her sister Lynn Patterson (Don), her brothers Wayne (Diana), Del, and Trevor, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces & nephews also mourn the loss of Lori. Lori was predeceased by her father Bill Dunford and brother Jim Dunford.

Lori married Donald in May 1978 in Pinawa, MB.  Together they moved around the country, from Thompson, MB, to Nakina, ON; Schrieber, ON, to Red Lake, ON; Rankin Inlet, NU, to Pine Falls, MB; La Ronge, SK, and finally returning to Pine Falls, MB in the summer of 1999. Lori and Don purchased the local grocery store Midway Foods. This is where all of Lori’s previous life accomplishments contributed to the success of the family business.

Lori and Don retired to Pinawa in 2011. Lori did not waste any time jumping into retirement. She found fulfillment in many hobbies, stemming from her overall love for life. She formed a true passion for kayaking and met many new friends along the way. When not on the water Lori could be found spending hours in nature with her best friend Shadow, all of this while taking pictures of what the world had to offer. Lori took up knitting in the recent years and has shared many of her projects with everyone around her. She also loved to travel, especially to her favorite places like Kauai and Arizona with Don, and to visit family & friends all across the country.

Lori cherished the memories created while visiting her kids out west. There were many trips to the mountains together where they would go camping, quadding, skiing, or hiking through Jasper, documenting every step of the way with her love for photography.  Over the past few years Lori has been able to spend many hours with her grandchildren, and great nieces and nephews. She enjoyed teaching them the simpler things in life like baking cookies, snowshoeing, hiking, biking, walking dogs, or swimming at the public beach.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Michel Bruneau and the entire staff of the Pinawa Hospital for their extra care and compassion over the past weeks.

A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, January 29th 2018 at 11:00am, at the Pinawa Alliance Church. Cremation has taken place and Lori’s final wishes will be honored at a later date. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Heart and Stoke Foundation on Lori’s behalf.

Don, Dave, Alaina and Families. We were shocked and saddened to hear of Lori’s passing. We had only just heard of her illness a few days before she passed away. Knowing what she had I know from experience, although taken from you far to soon, she is in a better place and the suffering and pain was not prolonged.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
As my sister tells me when someone in our family and friends passes away, “There is another angel looking over all of us now!” She passes on her condolences as well.
Lori will be greatly missed. Do take care of yourselves!
