1977-2020
It is with broken hearts we announce the sudden and tragic passing of our beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, Karen Lisa Ojala-Sanderson who passed away due to a brain aneurysm on Friday, February 14, 2020 at the age of 42.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband and life partner Kelsey Sanderson of 14 years, and her 3 children: Orion, Aysha and Trinity. She is also survived by her mother Diane (Clarence) of Dorion, ON, and her 2 brothers: Kevin (Daina) and Terry. She will be greatly missed by her brother in-law Chris, sister in-law Christina and father in-law Ron. As well, she leaves nieces, nephews and her WalMart Family from far and near along with her pet bunny Scampers.
She was born December 6, 1977 in Chapleau, ON. Her nickname was Kitten and was also known as Kitty Cat. She was given this nickname for her beautiful, bright blue eyes. She always said dynamite comes in small packages which was the case with Karen. She was small and powerful, and no one could outwork her. She loved to do Sudoko puzzles and cross-stitching. Her favourite times were with her family.
Many thanks to the staff at HSC for making Karen comfortable during her final moments of life. Karen has gifted five people with the gift of organ donation and one lucky person with the gift of sight with her beautiful blue eyes.
As per Karen’s request, cremation has taken place. She will be laid to rest with her father Tuure Ojala and with her uncles Pentti Ojala and Reino Vesa in the Lac du Bonnet Cemetery later this summer.
A graveside service will be held at the Lac du Bonnet Cemetery at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2020. Social distancing measures will be in effect and it is recommended you wear a mask. If you so desire you may bring lawn chair.

It’s still hard to believe that you’ve left. You were that one Bestie that connected with in hours and never left my heart. Wherever you went we stayed in contact.
Our last conversation was a getting together and going to Canada’s Wonderland…..
As I drive by your old appartment wonderful memories remind me of you.
February 14th will always be a day I will always remember but now for other reasons as well.
Always in my heart…always my best friend.

I was so sorry to recently hear of Karen’s passing. I remember her as the little sister of my friend Terry when they lived in Thunder Bay. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
