June Hughes (nee Anderson)

1935 ~ 2020

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Nana, and Great Nana on the evening of Thursday, March 19, 2020.

Mom was born to Jack and Annie Anderson on February 10, 1935 in Annfield Plain, Dipton, County Durham, England.  She married her husband, of 47 years, Frank Hughes on October 29, 1955, and in July 1967 they immigrated, along with their six children, to Canada.  The family settled in Pinawa, Manitoba in 1969 where mom worked for the Pinawa Motor Inn for many years.  She loved Pinawa.

June was predeceased by her husband Frank (2003), sons John (1977) and Paul (1997), and daughter Loraine (2013).

She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters Karen (Stan) and Jillian; son Stuart;  grandchildren Mark, Carrie-Ann, Laurie, Kent, Christopher, Jade, Ashley, Shane; and seventeen great grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place.  A private interment will be held at a later date.

If so desired donations can be made to the Dementia and/or Alzheimer’s Societies.

Your mom was a kind, funny woman of whom I have fond memories from when I was a child and when I worked with her at the motor inn.

    Hello my cousins

I am so sorry that we have lost a beautiful strong woman from our family. Having only met her and Uncle Frank once in my life that was the impression she left on me … your devastation must be beyond words and I send all the love prayers and strength I can for you to heal.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time. Even though we can’t get together as a family we often think about you all. I have some good & a few vague memories of happy times when I was a child spending time with aunty June. She was a lovely woman. Keep strong my cousins and remember all the good times. Rest in peace June

Deepest sympathy to everyone. I so enjoyed working the day shift at the PMI with June and Nora every summer. There was always something to laugh about and what a great laugh June had.
