1934 ~ 2016
Peacefully while he slept, Joseph John Pleskach was taken into the hands of the Lord on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Beausejour Hospital, at the age of 82.
Joe was predeceased by his cherished wife Gloria Carol in 2002, after 45 years of marriage, and by his parents Leon and Katherine.
He leaves to honour his memory his children Bernie, and Cathy (Chris); granddaughter Veronica; sisters: Violet (Nick), and Florence; brothers: Stan (Anne), Kasmer (Mary) and Larry (Linda), as well as many nieces and nephews. He also treasured the companionship of an angel and friend, Jean Prowse, and her daughters and their families.
Joseph was born September 1, 1934 to Leon and Katie Pleskacz at his grandparents’ farm in Garson, Manitoba. He worked for nearly 40 years at AECL in Pinawa in various trades, retiring in 1994 as Foreman of all Trades. He was an active member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, and served on the Knights of Columbus. During his retirement, Joe stayed active, owning a car wash, and meticulously beautifying his yard.
Our dad was a kind man who greeted everyone with a warm smile. We know that the community will miss his stoic and kind nature.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
Viewing and Prayers will be said at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, December 18 at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 516 Atlantic Ave., Beausejour, with Funeral Liturgy to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 19, also at the Church.

My family and I will really miss having Joe as a neighbour and friend. He was kind and caring towards me, my children and my puppy. I enjoyed hanging out with him outside and chatting. I already miss him and have felt that way since he went into the hospital. I’m glad for him that he felt he had lived his life fully and was ready to meet the Lord. I’m also glad to hear that he passed away peacefully. My condolences to his family members and close friends.
