1959 ~ 2015
After his battle with cancer, John passed away quietly and peacefully on the evening of January 6, 2015, surrounded by his family.
He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his wife Linda; children: Crystal (Mark), Catlin (Marie), and D.J.; grandchildren: Alex, Amy Lynn, Chayton, Azariah, and Nixon; brother Bob (Lindsay); and his many friends.
John enjoyed being a part of the community of Tyndall and devoted much of his time doing work to benefit the community. John was a proud and active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #3386 for almost 14 years; he held the position of Vice President for six years, and then President for the last two years.
John was a fighter. He fought for his family, his community, his work, and his passions. He was always willing to give a helping hand, and never hesitated to tell a joke or pull a prank.
John had a passion for sports, and was a great collector of sports memorabilia. He was particularly fond of the New England Patriots and the New York Islanders.
We would like to express our gratitude to the staff of Beausejour District Hospital for the excellent and compassionate care that John received during his stay.
A private family gathering will be held to honour John’s life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #3386, Box 11, Tyndall, MB R0E 2B0.

Len & Lil Homeniuk
Dear Linda & Family,
Our sincerest condolences on the passing of John. Len had worked with John for a number of years at Reimer Express and was his favourite supervisor … mainly because John was the only one who would ever provide Len with any assistance. We said our goodbyes to John on Saturday, December 3rd at the Beausejour Hospital, with a tearful farewell between Len and John. John’s last words to Len were ‘Have a good one.’ Our hearts go out to you at this time of loss. May the many memories of John be a comfort to you as you celebrate his life.

So sorry to hear of your loss, I was fortunate to work with John for 33 years at Reimers, he took his responsibility at work very serious and always put forth his best effort.

I worked with John for a number of years and always enjoyed his sense of humour. He was an incredibly funny person and great to be around. He always spoke fondly of his time with family when away from the office.
Thoughts and prayers are with the family

John was a “doer”, whether it was organizing an Eagles BBQ or food drive, expanding his sports memorabilia collection, upgrading his backyard entertainment area or building a treehouse for his grandkids, it got a 100% effort. Obviously God needed something done in heaven and called home one of his best. Linda, all of Tyndall shares your loss. He will be missed.
