1945 – 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, John, on February 4, 2023. He was in the presence of family who love him deeply. John started his journey on March 4, 1945 in Sirko, Manitoba.

He is lovingly remembered and survived by his wife of 55 years, Elizabeth; his daughter Kim (Joe) Tyson and grandchildren Cameron and Brayden; and his son Bradley (Terry) Cherewayko.  John also leaves behind his sisters Mary, Verna, Ann and Florence, extended family, nephews and nieces and numerous friends; as well as his godchildren Elaine, Bob, Cory and Barry.

John was predeceased by his parents Wasylka and Wasyl, and his sister Helen, and brother Matt.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Selkirk General Hospital for their compassion and support.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Church; 730 James Avenue, Beausejour, MB.

We were so sorry to hear of John’s passing. He was such a good neighbour at Pinawa Bay and to my parents before they passed. Our deepest sympathy to Liz and the rest of the family. He popped by to visit us last summer and we had a really nice chat around the fire. Ken and Margaret Wonko.
