Joan was born in Marchand, MB on March 1, 1936 to Florence (nee Carriere) and Fred Schau. Joan passed away June 7, 2019.
She is survived by her children, Sally, Sandra, Gordon, Leslie and Lorena; grandchildren, Alexandra, James, Teresa, Kristina, Sidney, Griffin, Joshua and Adam. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Jennifer Matlashewski.
Cremation has taken place. At Joan’s request, no funeral service will be held. A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date.

Condolences for the family of “Joan Josephine Wells (nee Schau)”
She is at peace. She will be missed.
She made many friends at the garden club and I was one of them. She will be greatly missed.
It is very hard to find words; what to possibly say about mom.
She sewed me beautiful clothes. She fed me healthy food.
Christmases and birthdays were always so special because she made them that way.
I don’t think Joan had respect for humans but she did teach me to respect mother earth.
In a way, she also taught me how important it is to love my own children and to keep them close.
I am grateful that I can love Joan’s grandchildren and great grandchildren with the intensity of a mother’s unconditional love.
