1949 ~ 2014

With great sadness the family announces the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather Jerry Kalinski on October 5, 2014 at the age of 65.

He was predeceased by his parents Stanley and Frances, and stepmother Jennie.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his loving wife of 42 years Lillian (nee Slipchuk); his three sons: Curtis (Elisa) and their children Lydia and Samuel, Kevin (Lisa) and their children Seth and Emily, and Ryan (Kaitlyn). He is also survived by his brother Leonard (Mercy), as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Jerry had his pilot’s license before his driver’s license. He had a great passion for aviation, and spent most of his life flying. He retired from Air Canada where he worked in Maintenance. He also worked as a crop duster, which he continued to this day. He loved to teach his beloved sons all about his passions, especially flying.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Jerry’s memory to “Faith to Live by” TV Ministry, Box 426, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2H6.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. with viewing one hour prior at Sobering Funeral Chapel in Beausejour.

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31

Condolences for the family of “Jerry Kalinski”

Condolence from Terry Chachula on October 8th, 2014 5:30 am

Despite living in Flin Flon, I met and spoke with Jerry in Winnipeg at many Cowboy Matches, he had a magnetic attraction – He left us way too soon… and he will be missed. I offer condolences to his immediate family.

Condolence from Joe Justus on October 8th, 2014 10:51 am

I am so very sorry for your loss and offer my deepest condolences to your family. I had the privilege of getting to know Jerry through Cowboy Action Shooting with him at the WRPA the last couple of years after I moved to Winnipeg. Jerry was very kind and inviting to me as a “new comer” to the group and lent me equipment for matches on several occasions, including the last time I shot a match with him in September of this year. Jerry and I spoke often about his passion for flying and crop dusting. His honesty, integrity, humility and decency made a big impression on me and reminded me of the type of men I grew up around in the 1960s – men of honour and their word. I miss those types of men today and I will miss Jerry immensely too for the same reason. But at the same time, I am thankful that I had the privilege to meet with, and know in part, such a great, decent and generous man. Once again, my deepest sympathy and condolences to your family. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I had known Jerry (or Pete Moss, as I knew him by at the range) since he started in the Cowboy Action League a number of years ago. He was a very fine person, always positive with never an unkind word to say about anyone or anything – a true gentleman and will be missed when the cowpokes again return to the range. My sincere condolences to Jerry’s family.

Dear Lillian and family, Although we didn’t see Jerry often it feels like we’ve known him all his life just as I’ve known you (Lillian) all your life, especially as my country neighbour. Gerry, such a wonderful person and one to carry on a great conversation. Thinking of you and your loved ones and praying for you during this difficult time. I will forever remember your wedding day and cherish the wonderful memories of the great day we spent at Fort Garry with that terrific meal (and special dessert) afterwards, among other get togethers. Take care and God Bless.
