1935 ~ 2012
Irma peacefully passed away to her eternal home on July 27, 2012 at Beausejour Hospital, at the age of 77 years.
Irma was born on April 30, 1935 to Ludwig and Blondeina Wolfrom (Lipps). She grew up in the River Hills farming community. She moved to Winnipeg with her sister Evelyn and worked at Miller Hatchery before marrying Alfred Tiede on October 5, 1957. They made their home in River Hills, Manitoba where they raised three children. She ran the Post Office out of her home for many years. She enjoyed conversing with the townsfolk as they picked up their mail until her retirement in the early 1990’s. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting items for her grandchildren, and was an avid gardener who canned many fruits and vegetables for herself and her family. She loved to spend time with her family. She was a member of the Whiteshell Baptist Church and attended church regularly. She loved gospel music and went to many music jamborees with her husband. Irma enjoyed singing with Alfred at church and community events, and also spent a week each year at Gimli Bible Camp for seniors. She spent many summers at the lake in Rainy River, Ontario with her family.
In January 2001, Irma and Alfred moved to a condo in Beausejour. In the fall of 2010 Irma could no longer care for herself at home and spent approximately a year in the Beausejour Hospital until June of 2011 when she moved to East Gate Lodge Personal Care Home where she resided until her death.
Irma was predeceased by her husband Alfred Tiede in 2005, and was also predeceased by her parents and brother Herb Wolfrom. She will be remembered by her son Richard Tiede and wife Rose, son Conrad Tiede and wife Barb, and daughter Rochelle Hiebert and husband Werner. She will be missed by her 7 grandchildren – Joey, David, Tyler Tiede, Ian and Alex Hiebert, and Arianna and Tiana Tiede. She is survived by two sisters and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service was held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at the Whiteshell Baptist Church in Seven Sisters, with interment following in Whiteshell Baptist Cemetery. A viewing took place from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., Monday, August 6, 2012 at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue East, Beausejour.
