Irene married Irvin in 1945 and together worked on the mixed farm in Golden Bay raising their family where she lived for 66 years. After her husband’s passing, in 2011 Irene moved to Stoney Plains in Beausejour.
Mom was devoted and definitely the backbone of our family. She was a very hard working, strong women that never held back with her opinion or sharing her thoughts. We will always remember our family gatherings on the farm and especially our open house Christmases. She always made sure that all visitors were well fed with her good cooking or baking when they stopped in. Mom was a caring and giving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Pallbearers are Darren Singbeil, Gavin Fuerst, Jordan Fuerst, Carter Fuerst, Kurtis VanLoon and Travis Singbeil. Honorary pallbearers are Ryan Sachvie and Brendan Mahoney.
We would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Eastgate Lodge for their professional care and kindness during mom’s stay. We were happy to hear that mom had a way to keep everyone entertained with her unique sense of humour that will be missed by staff.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to East Gate Lodge Memorial Garden Fund, PO Box 1690, Beausejour MB, ROE OCO
Due to covid restrictions a private family service will be held at Elim Baptist Church in Beausejour.

I am so sad for your loss. I still remember her excellent carrot cake and when asking for the recipe she would just say a bit of this and a bit of that. She will be missed.

I am so sad to hear of Irene’s passing. Irene ALWAYS had me on my feet with her shenanigans around the rose unit, and later on shamrock. She had the funniest stories, and best giggle. Her hair always had to be a specific way, and always had to match! She was a gem. She will be deeply missed.
Rest easy up there Irene – remember snapping your fingers will always get you cookies!

I am so sorry to hear of Auntie Irene’s passing. I spent many weekends there and always felt welcomed. She never told my parents of the times I would come home all hours of the night with Laureen, which surely would have gotten me grounded for weeks! She was one of my favourite aunt’s and will be deeply missed.

Bonnie and I would like to offer our condolences to the family on the loss of our Auntie Irene. I have wonderful memories of Irene and Irvin and you ‘kids’ when I used to come out to the farm every summer for a 2 week holiday. Auntie Irene was always so kind; after all she had all those mouths to feed!! I was honoured to MC their 25th wedding anniversary at old St. Mary’s Hall. Love you all cousin Dennis Bonnie

I am so sad to hear of Irene’s passing on Sunday.
She was my mother-in-law for almost 25 years. After 1999, (when my divorce was finalized) She and I still remained friends & I saw her often at my 2 children graduations, their weddings & many Special family gatherings and my 6 grandchildren’s Baptisms & Birthdays. I have many fond memories of her. My deepest condolences to all of the family. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this very sad time. I believe she is now happy to join her husband, 2 children, 2 son-in-laws and her siblings up in heaven She is gone but will Never, Ever be Forgotten

So sorry to hear of Irene’s passing. She taught me many things over the years, such as how to plant a garden and how to whip up a meal for a crowd that suddenly showed up! So many great memories of times at the farm. I respected her greatly. Thinking of all of the Fuerst family at this sad time❤
