Harry passed away peacefully at the Beausejour Hospital on February 3, 2016 at the age of 91.
He is survived by his four sons: Mervin (Janice), Keith (Charlene), Randall (Marie) and Erwin, grandchildren: Dustin (Genie), Heidi and Landon (Heather) and great grandchildren Oliver and Grace. Also left to mourn his passing is his sister Mary (Clarence). He was predeceased by his wife Kay, infant daughter Patricia, granddaughter Justine as well as siblings Elsie, Erna, Ruth, Velma and Ervin.
At a very young age, Harry started working in the bush camps for Abitibi Pulp and Paper Mills. In winters, he would go to the bush for weeks at a time to earn money to put into his farming operation which he and Kay established in Green Bay. He continued to farm until Kay became sick and they sold the farm, keeping the home place where Erwin now resides. This made it possible for him to return to the farm and continue doing his fixing and repairing equipment for friends and neighbours and keep his garden.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed going to as many different lakes as possible and most times he was able to find the fish, which he was sure to share with friends. He went hunting with lots of different friends and had many adventures while on these hunting trips. He seldom came back empty handed.
As Kay’s health declined, Father became the chief cook and bottle washer. He became very good at baking, cooking, canning and pickling. He was known for his cinnamon buns and coffee can paska at Easter and would share them with family and close friends. Harry was also Kay’s nurse. He devoted himself to helping Kay right to the end.
Father was a very devoted Christian. He lived his life following all the rules of the “good book”. If he could do something for someone, he would be there to help in any way he could. At church he was famous for giving a hug as the “sharing of the peace”.
Harry enjoyed working in his shop with his sons and was proud of their accomplishments. He will be missed by all.
Thank you to Dr. Schmidt, Dr. Van Rensburg and all the staff at the Beausejour Hospital for all their compassion and care over the past year as Harry was quite the “regular and independent patient”. We would also like to say a special thank you to his close friends, Carol and Brian for always being there for him.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 13 at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue E., Beausejour with viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Green Bay Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (Green Bay) or to the Beausejour Hospital.

Harry was a true gentleman, fisherman and hunter. I was proud to call him a friend. My condolences to his family and friends. Big man with a big heart.
I will always have very fond memories of Harry. I had the pleasure of Fishing and being on the same Bowling team with him. Harry was a true gentleman in every way. This gentle giant of a man will be missed by all that knew him. I am proud to have known him.. My Condolences to his Family..

Deepest sympathies to all the family on the loss of your dad. He was a gentle giant, and I remember him looking after his wife Kay, during my career at the local hospital as an aide…rest in peace Harry.

My favorite uncle! Uncle Harry always had a smile and a big bear hug for me whenever we would run into each other. He’d always greet me with a “Well look at that!” And then a hearty laugh! He always made time for you….you sure left a legacy of love and kindness my friend! I will miss him dearly! He truly was my favorite uncle!

Very sad for family and friends. Sounds as though he had a full life and stayed busy. My father Sam Rosentreter spoke of him often growing up. A smile and a laugh. I guessed they were friends the way he spoke.
May his memories be passed on for a long time. So sorry for your loss.

So sorry to hear of your dad’s passing. I loved coming to their place when doing home care for your mom. They were both loving & special people. Together again!
Life will not be the same in BJ. The town has just become a lesser place without Uncle Harry.
He will be missed by all those who crossed his path and we are all the better for knowing him.

Harry was one of the sweetest men I’ve met during my career. No matter how sick he was coming into the hospital he had a smile on his face and met us all with such gratitude. It was an honor to have cared for him, and I will miss him deeply. My sincere condolences to his family.
