Holly Rose Knight (nee Diell)

1953 ~ 2017

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden yet peaceful passing of Holly Rose Knight on Sunday July 9th, 2017 at age 63. Holly was a most beloved wife, mother and friend.

Holly will lovingly be remembered by her husband of 42 years, James David Knight, daughter Kristen Grace Pritchard (Matthew), son Alexander James Knight, sisters Maureen Benson (Gord), Val Diell, Karen Diell, sister in-law Beth Knight and many nieces and nephews. Holly was predeceased by her parents Roy and Evelyn Diell, her brothers Blaine and Grant Diell, brother in-law Arthur Knight and her beloved dogs Saran and Nelson.

Holly was known as “Hollita” to many, and always loved having her friends and family around her. Our favorite memories of mom include time at her and dad’s Lee River home, where there was always a garage full of friends, music, dogs, laughter and good food. Mom would open her home to everyone in the community and it became a familiar place anyone could stop in for a good chat and a cold beer.  Mom loved the close knit communities of Lee River and Lac Du Bonnet, which she has called home since 2011. Mom was an avid music lover and some of her favorite memories were of seeing Pink Floyd with her husband, Elton John with her daughter or just dancing in the living room with her husband, daughter and friends. Mom was never shy of a challenge; learning to drive at the age of 62 and buying her first car. We are so proud of you mom!

Holly’s family would like to send a sincere thank you to the Lac Du Bonnet RCMP, First Responders, and Ray Brennan for their heroic efforts that Sunday night. Also, thank you to Curtis and Jennifer Cornelsen for their support that night.

A private family gathering will be held at a future date.

    The Knight Family

I am so sorry to hear about Holly.

I worked with Holly for many years at the Convention Centre and Holly was a great person and fabulous teacher. If I ever needed to know something Holly was always there to help.

I use to give Holly a ride home many times and we had some wonderful and funny talks during our ride.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you she will truly be missed.

My sincere condolences to Jim, Kristen & Alex, it’s been over 14 years since I left the Winnipeg Convention Centre and Winnipeg. As you may remember I also worked with Holly and she was a great friend and co-worker. We had many laughs, stories, etc. and she would always call me “Angle”. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time, may you know that the love, support and friendship that you have surrounding you does help to heal some of the pain you are experiencing. “Hollita” you are now an “angel” watching over your family. Rest in peace my friend.
