Condolence from Kurt Rosentreter on October 17th, 2022 5:08 pm

Renate, you and Herb and the boys are family to me and Herb’s sudden loss hurts to my core.

Herb and your friendship with my parents, his (and your!) help with them in their final years and even the revitalized Village Green bench are gifts of your kindness and caring that we Rosentreters will never forget.

Jody and Joel, some of my fondest childhood memories were shagging fly balls in the Village Green on a Sunday night with both of you and Herb. He could always hit it better than we could! He would stay as late as we wanted, he inspired me and I always enjoyed my time with him.

Herb, thank you for your kindness and your friendship. I will so miss our visits on the front porch when I am in town. That big smile won’t be forgotten.

The biggest hugs to everyone, Kurt in Toronto

Condolence from Glen Boyko on October 17th, 2022 9:47 pm

Renata Jody and Joel. My sincere condolences. After reading Kurt’s message my child hood memories are like they happened yesterday. The many trips for hockey in the back of Herbs van or loading up our dirt bikes and head to hillside beach for the weekend will always be remembered.
Thanks Herb!

Condolence from Allan & Donna Rosentreter on October 18th, 2022 3:30 pm

Dear Renate, Jody, Joel and family,

We can only imagine your feelings of loss. Herb was such a special person, wonderfully generous and thoughtful with his time, always willing to help, and with a smile on his face.

We enjoyed calling the Johnson house. If Renate was out, we would have a great conversation and many laughs with Herb about almost anything, although hockey and the latest book he was reading were always hot topics. And he would inevitably close with, “She’ll (Renate) call you back just as soon as she gets home,” and he would chuckle.

The conversations on the front patio with Herb will long be treasured and remembered. Thinking of you all fondly,

Allan and Donna

Condolence from Marcel Pitre on October 20th, 2022 3:18 pm

Renate, Jody, Joel and family,

I was so sorry to hear of Herb’s passing. We spent many hours talking and telling stories, both at the Pine Falls restaurant before covid and after covid at his home. It was entertaining, fun and at times profound. I will miss our chats immensely. The suddenness of it all is heart-shaking. My most deepest sympathies to you all.

Thinking of you,
Marcel Pitre
