Helen Schiller

August 18, 1922 to June 21, 2010

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Helene (Helen) Schiller of Beausejour. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 57 years, Rudolph; children, Louisa (Reinhold), Richard, Bernard, Marianne (Scott), Verna, Holly (Kevin); and grandchildren, Matthew, Lesley, Ethan, Nathan, Taylor, Owen and Katrina. She is also survived by her sister Anna Buss and her brother Alfred Otto. Helen was predeceased by her children, Harold, Ernest and Albertina, who passed away in infancy.

Helen was born and raised on the family farm in Thalberg, Manitoba. She had fond memories of her childhood years and often shared stories with family of her early experiences. As a young woman, she worked at the Municipal Hospital Nurses’ Residence in Winnipeg. She also took the opportunity to travel and visit with family in California. In 1953 she married Rudy and moved to Green Bay where they farmed until 1965, at which point in time they moved their growing family to Beausejour.

Helen was a devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed a variety of handicrafts and was an avid gardener. She took great pride in her work and her family. Helen was also an active member of the Lutheran church and taught Sunday School for several years.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of East Gate Lodge Personal Care Home and Beausejour Hospital for the kindness and compassionate care given to Helen over the years.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 26 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Green Bay with Pastor Mark Koenker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. You may view at the church prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen’s memory to the Arthritis Society of Manitoba or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.

Condolences for the family may be offered at www.SoberingFuneralChapel.com.
