November 3, 1932 – June 12, 2022
It is with deepest sorrow we announce the passing of Helen Margaret Pachkowsky on June 12, 2022 in Pine Falls, Manitoba at the age of 89. Mom fought a courageous battle with disabling arthritis for 40 years and more recently illnesses involving Amyloidosis and Colitis. Through her many surgeries and illnesses’ mom very seldom, if ever, let on to us the true extent of her many pains focusing more on the lives of her children and their families.
She is survived by her loving children, Sheila, Ron (Corinne), JoAnne (Mike), Amy (Calvin), Roberta (Randy), numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mom is predeceased by her husband Norm, sons Ken and Gerry, her brother Charles (Buzzy) and sister Kay.
Although mom may not have worked outside the home, her children and close friends would beg to differ. Our family residence was home to many and everybody was always welcome. During the early 1960’s, mom offered the family home and herself for respite services for children undergoing outpatient care at Pine Falls Hospital, as well as those children recovering from illness while awaiting transportation back to northern communities.
An avid curler, mom also enjoyed bowling and golf. She also enjoyed spending time with the local Catholic Women’s League, was a volunteer with the Pine Falls Health Auxiliary and a member of the local Royal Canadian Legion. In the late 1960’s, both mom and dad volunteered with the Pine Falls Recreation Association where youth dances were often held at the Pine Falls Arena. A young band from Winnipeg often entertained the crowd and then ended up at mom and dad’s where musician Burton Cummings tickled the ivory with mom on the family piano.
Our family would like to give special thanks to the Lord our God for allowing us the wonderful gift of sharing many beautiful years with our Little Energizer Bunny . . . an extraordinary person who will be missed by many. We would like to thank the many family, friends and relatives for all the prayers, the many caregivers including the staff at the Pine Falls HealthComplex and most of all the many family and friends who made sure she was not alone until her peaceful passing on June 12th.
Funeral service to take place at 2:00 pm on Thursday, June 23rd at Notre Dame Du Laus Parish in Powerview, MB. Viewing, for those who wish to pay their last respects, will start at 1:00 pm with a rosary being said at 1:30.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Siloam Mission or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Your mom was one of a kind! Always a smile for everyone. At our ladies bonspiels she was always there to cheer us on when she could no longer curl. I can hear her laughing as she judged our Entertainment! There are no words to express how much she contributed to our community and our family’s. I will miss her. Love always. Our thoughts, our prayers, our love go out to the family.
We met Helen fifteen years ago when we moved into the area and were adopted almost immediately into the family. There was always laughter, great times when ever we were in company of Helen and Norm. She came to our first Christmas party and only ever missed one in all this time because that is what MOMS do. Helen is absolutely one special lady and always added humor, laughter, love to everyone that we were together. This LOVE was shared with everyone she ever came in contact with and those memories will never fade but will only get even stronger with time. Helen never ever judged anyone but just accepted you for who you were.
Helen you cannot be replaced but you will be missed more than words could ever express but you are now in a better place where you can laugh, have fun, enjoy yourself without the pain that you never shared.
We will send HUGS and Love every day til we meet again all our love.

Our condolences to all of you on the death of your mother.. We lived at 11 Cherry Street, and being a family of 4 girls had a lot of babysitting jobs on the street. We ( especially Lana and I ) babysat all of you over the years we were in high school, and I do remember how your Mom used to keep Indigenous children from the hospital until they could go home.. she always seemed to have a baby at home.. I’m sure you’ll miss her!

Ron I can hear your voice as I read your Mom’s obituary. She was a Mom for so many including me! I had such a short visit in spring with her but she included her last diagnosis so I knew…. She accepted it as she accepted everything in her life…the good, the bad & the ugly with Joy patience & acceptance…but she kept on going forward like you said….the energy Bunny..spreading her Love to all. When God came to get her I’m sure there was a whole lot of rejoicing in Heaven!! What she left behind was priceless!! Live like there is no tomorrow! Be kind, Loving, Laugh a lot, Hug a lot & Praise God for his presence in our lives.

My Mom liked how Helen never minced words! Well, maybe not every word. I know she was in awe at how she managed such a busy household.
Myself, I’ll never forget wondering how she managed to drive such big cars peeking over the steering wheel as she did, I guess that was your Mom, adapt and conquer!
SHEILA
Thank you Warren for those co mforting and humorous memories.

Sheila, Ron, Joanne, Roberta, Amy and the whole Pachkowsky Family, who have my deepest and heartfelt condolences on the loss of your Mom. Your Mom was a very caring, kind lady who I had a tremendous love and respect for all my life. She was very special to me. I would always look forward to our visits when I came home to visit. I had the pleasure of having one last visit with her when I was home just a few weeks ago. I will always remember some of the precious memories I made with your parents in the past. We had a couple of really nice visits when they came through Calgary and once when we camped together at a K. of C. camp out in Kananakis and then they spent time with us in Calgary afterwards on their way home. I will always have a special place in my heart for both your Dad & Mom. May they Rest in Peace together again.
