1937 ~ 2015
It is with profound sadness the family announces the passing of their beloved wife, mother and Baba, Helen Kaminski, age 78, on May 12, 2015 at the Beausejour Hospital.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband Michael of 57 years, children Barbara (Mike), Orest (Karen), Terry (Bernadine), grandchildren Nicole, Clint, Michael, Calahan, Alana, Matthew, and Tera, siblings Mike, Pearl, Jennie and their families.
She was predeceased by her son Roman, parents Mary and Steven Gregorash.
Helen was born in Hamerlik, Manitoba where she grew up on a farm. While attending Manitoba Normal School in Winnipeg, studying to become a teacher, she met Michael, the love of her life. They married in 1957 and began their life together in Glenmoor, Manitoba where they farmed and raised their family. They retired in 1996 to their new home in Beausejour.
Mom was very devoted to her family. She was an amazing cook, with her favourite saying, “Eat, eat, so you won’t be hungry”. To her grandchildren she was their Perogy Queen. She valued her faith and was very active in the Ukrainian Catholic Churches in Thalberg and Beausejour, belonging to the Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League for 18 years.
The family would like to thank the Doctors and Staff of the Beausejour Hospital, The Heart Failure Clinic and the Home Care Staff for all their care and compassion.
Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 18 at the Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church, 823 Park Avenue, Beausejour, MB with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church, Box 114, Beausejour, MB R0E 0C0 or the Beausejour Hospital TV Fund, Box 1614, Beausejour, MB R0E 0C0.
