1926 ~ 2016
Peacefully at the age of 90, Harry passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2016 at the Beausejour Hospital. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Pearl in 2003.
Dad was born on February 18, 1926 in Ladywood, Manitoba. He grew up in Stead, Manitoba, then as a young man ventured to Winnipeg to work, but his heart always drew him back home. This is where he met the love of his life Pearl Soluk, and on June 03, 1950, they were married. After working a few years in Winnipeg, they were drawn back to their roots and family, purchasing the Pine Site Store in Stead where they raised their 3 daughters. During the 30 years in the store, Mom ran the store, while Dad worked as a salesman, finishing his sales career before retiring with the Western Lottery Manitoba Distributors. Dad loved being the social butterfly. He enjoyed and appreciated chatting with everyone he knew, from Bingo at Fort Alex and Scanterbury, to card playing with his Stead Senior friends, and his favorite, South Beach Casino.
Dad will be dearly missed by his daughters Carol (Sid), Jamie (Brian), Rae (Andy), Grandchildren Christine, Sheila (Sean), Alixxandra (Ryan), Daniel, Great Grandchildren Jenna, Nolan, Grayson, Carter, and Brielle, his sister Shirley and sisters in-law Eleanor, Jeanette, and Gloria and many more family and friends.
The family would like to extend their thanks to Dad’s homecare workers, especially Treasure and Diane and to Dr. Schmidt and the staff at Beausejour Hospital for their care and compassion.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 30, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue E., Beausejour.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Lung Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Dad, you will be dearly missed.
