June 11, 1927 – June 10, 2020
It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Grace (Grietje) Rueckert. Mom slipped away to be with her Lord and Saviour on June 10, 2020 at East Gate Lodge in Beausejour, MB.
Mom is survived by her husband of 66.99 years Manfred, children Alfred Rueckert (Jeanne) of Winnipeg, Alvin Rueckert (Zenda) of Beausejour, Nancy Sharpe of Beausejour, and Debbie Remple (Darron) of Steinbach. Also brother John Broek (Gisella), and sisters Bernadine Mueller, and Agnes Hiller (Eddy), as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents John and Marg, son Gerhard, brothers Okko and Hermann, and sisters Gretchen, Hermina, and Jannet.
Mom was born in Warsingsfehn, Germany. Mom and Dad immigrated to Canada in 1954 from Germany and settled in Whitemouth, MB where they lived until 2003. They then moved to Beausejour where they resided until July of 2019 when they moved into East Gate Lodge.
Her family was very important to her and she was an amazing cook. Mom learnt her culinary skills while in Germany. Her recipes were precious to her, ones that she never shared with anyone. She also had a love for vehicles; she purchased every vehicle Mom and Dad ever had. She was a wonderful money manager and she knew how to stretch the dollar. As a family, we always had what we needed and that was because of her frugal ways, and love for her family. She was a kind woman that loved to laugh, and her smile will be sadly missed.
We love you Mom, enjoy your new home.
We would love to have had a service to celebrate Mom’s life, but due to Covid-19 we will be having a private family graveside service. Interment will be in St. Ouen’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to East Gate Lodge, Rec. Dept., Box 1690, Beausejour, MB R0E 0C0 or St. Ouen’s Cemetery, Box 12, Grp 420, RR 4, Beausejour, MB R0E 0C0.

To Uncle Manfred and family, we will miss Tante Grace and our hearts go out to you for your loss. She will have celebrated her new birthday in heaven with our beloved Lord and Saviour which she loved dearly. She would tell us stories of our Dad, Okko from when they were growing up and have us laughing.

Love always, Diane & Bernie.

Manfred we were so sad to read of Grace’s passing. We can only Imagine the heartache you are feeling. She was a true gift from God to you, the family and so many others. When Alvin and I were in that youth phase she was like a Mom to me also and every time we were headed out she would not stop us but insisted she pray with us first. I think she petitioned heaven to keep us safe. She made such a difference with her life and we will miss her sweet smile and tender spirit immensely. May God grant you his special grace and peace as you go through this most difficult time.
