Glen Randall Klapprat

1950 ~ 2022

We the family, sadly announce the sudden passing of Glen Randall Klapprat, at the age of 72 on March 14, 2022.

Dad was born the third child of Fred and Hertha Klapprat and lived nearly his entire life in Whitemouth, MB.

Dad grew up knowing the value of hard work and family.  Dad met mom, Marion (nee Lorentz) and they married in 1971.  Together they grew their own family.   Daughters; Jennifer (Vince) Staerk, April (Jody) Pierrepont, and Shawna O’Brien.  Grandchildren; Matthew (Kira), Cassidy (Tyler), Andrew (Ryane), Keara, Corbin and Devan.  Great granddaughter Allyria.

He is also survived by his sister Bernice (Duane), brothers Bob (Carole) and Larry (Brenda), numerous extended family members and friends.  He was preceded by his parents and in-laws, brother in-law and infant grandson Oswald.

As a young man dad pursued the plumbing trade, and proudly grew his own business for 53 years, while farming alongside his family.

Through life he enjoyed traveling and sharing his adventures with everyone, but the place he was happiest was at Cooks Falls.  He loved to share stories about his family and all his interests with everyone who visited there.

Dad would say “There are no strangers in life; just friends you haven’t met yet”.  Each of you hold a special place in our hearts for having been a part of dad’s life.

So sorry to hear of Glen’s passing. I only knew Glen for the past 8-9 years now but having spent many of my summer and fall weekends at Cooks Falls paddling with our local boating community, I can say that I always looked forward to sharing a chat or meal with Glen. Some weekends, there would only be Glen there, and we would chat for hours. He was always busy and always had time to help out with a broken part or a tool that might be needed. Glen was the best of the best, and we will miss him dearly.

Marion, Jennifer, April, Shawna and families…… I can hardly believe I am writing these words ….. but I do want to offer my love and sincere condolences on Glen’s passing. My memories of him are all good ones – I still tell the story of our Klepatz family reunion at Cook’s Falls, when Glen drove up with his truck, the back loaded up with various sizes of inner tubes, and the trailor behind, with bales of hay to sit on. The kids all climbed aboard, some of the smaller ones with parents, and headed upstream. Some time later, they came floating back on the river to the starting point, all having had a wonderful experience! Glen took great delight in supplying that treat for the kids!
I am saddened that I will be away on Saturday and will have to miss the service, but I will definitely tune in to the livestream, and will continue to keep you all in my prayers.

Our deepest condolences on Glenn’s passing. We had many great memories of spending time at the campsite with him. He was always very generous and loved to tell stories about everything he collected.

It is with a sad and surprisingly shock that we heard of the sudden passing of Glen. The entire Pinawa coffee group remembered the quiet friendly plumber who would never let them down when the need was there. Susan and I had nothing but praises for the excellent work and friendship over many years at Starlite Apts. Rest In Peace Glen.

Deeply saddened when I heard the news of Glen’s passing. I met Glen in the early 90’s going to Whitemouth with friends. It didn’t take long to go from calling Glen “my friends uncle” to just calling him my “friend” … that’s just how he was. I’ve had many great times at Cooks falls. Often I would get there on a Thursday night or even early Friday morning being one of the first ones there. Countless times Glen would be there getting ready for the weekends campers either hauling water or mowing the grass. Of coarse it wouldn’t take long before Glen would stop what he was doing and wander over and before you knew it you were having an interesting conversation over a cool beverage and wandering through the barn looking at the latest interesting thing he had gotten at an auction somewhere. He often got a kick out of showing you some weird object then asking you what it is, finally when you were baffled he would tell you what it was. I truly enjoyed my times out at Cooks with Glen and Marion and family. He will be greatly missed !

    Dear Marion and family,

We were so so sad to hear about Glen. He was such a wonderful soul, always happy and a pleasure to be around. I passed along the info to mom and she too was very saddened to hear. You and Glen and family are long time family friends, and Glen will be deeply missed.

When you guys hosted our Aggie reunion at Cooks Falls we had such a great time! Even though our kids were young they still remember what a fun time they had tubing on rapids, bonfires and your beautiful barn. Glen also was a great plumber and we were lucky to have him plumb our cabin.

    Our thoughts are with you.

Marion, we were very saddened to learn of Glen’s passing. You were such great next door neighbors on Meighen Bay and although it was only for a few years , we never forgot you and Glen. We were all young then (JP 3 days older than Glen), with little kids and just moved into brand new bungalows in VG. We put in our lawns together…JP remembers borrowing his uncle’s gravel truck and he and Glen went out to the Klapprat farm in Whitemouth for a load of top soil…Glen’s mom cooked them lunch.
To this day, I can still picture both your smiles and Glen’s jovial voice. Our condolences to you Marion and your family as you struggle with missing Glen…you’re in our hearts and in our thoughts…as always, Gloria and Jean Paul Larocque
