Peacefully, on Friday August 6, 2010, George Henry Frederick Emms passed away at the Whitemouth Personal Care Home, Whitemouth, MB.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Betty, son Fred and Vickie (Tory), three granddaughters, Sherri Hoover, Tracey Emms, and Karen Belcourt and their spouses. He was particularly proud of his 7 great-granchildren Robyn, Brydan, Lachlan, Arran, Sighlie, Kaylee and Avaree. He was especially happy with his latest new great-grandson Brydan Lang whom he had a chance to visit a few times. He is also survived by his sister Edith Green, 2 nieces and their families.
George was born in Springfield on the family farm and lived there most of his life. In 2001 George and Betty moved to Ste. Rita to be closer to Fred and Tory and he enjoyed his years in the community. In 2007 he began suffering a series of strokes, one of which took him on Friday.
Special thanks to the Whitemouth Personal Care Home staff, doctors and friends who cared for George for the past 10 months. Thanks also to the staff and doctors of Ste. Anne Hospital for his extended stay until his move to the nursing home.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 10 at 11:00 am at the Sobering Funeral Chapel in Beausejour, MB. Interment of ashes to follow at Millbrook Cemetery, Anola, MB.
